Welcome to an All-Star edition of New Music Releases!

Loved Me Back to Life by Celine Dion

Celine Dion is back! Loved Me Back to Life marks Ms. Dion’s eleventh English studio album and it is an impeccable record! The “Because You Loved Me” singer’s beautiful vocals brilliant touched each track with a drop of honey which created a lot of ear candy.  In addition, Ms. Dion’s superb collaborations with Ne-Yo (“Incredible”) and Stevie Wonder (“Overjoyed”) are some of her best vocal collaborations of the 2010s.  I just hope Celine takes this album on tour because it would be incredible to see her live. The Marshall Mathers LP 2 by Eminem

All hail…the King of Rap! This album shows Eminem at the top of his game! While Eminem spewed a lot of venom in this album, the addicting beats and the cameos from Sklyar Grey, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, fun’s Nate Ruess and Sia make the delivery less harsh.  Out of all the rap albums that were released in 2013, Slim Shady’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 is the only album that maintained both my interest and attention span for all 21 tracks.  I hope that Grammys are in his future! Tracks to Download: “Survival,” “A*****e,” “Berzerk,” “Headlights” & “Beautiful Pain”

Pentatonix PTX, Vol. II

A cappella group Pentatonix continues their rise to superstardom with their third EP that features covers of Macklemore and Daft Punk. (Album cover property of Pentatonix & Madison Gate Records)

PTX, Vol. 2 by Pentatonix

One of Jake’s Take’s favorite groups released its third extended play! I encourage everyone to purchase this incredible album! PTX, Vol.2 shows why Pentatonix is one of the premiere a cappella groups in the music industry! I cannot wait to hear what the quintet has in store for us in the future. A+

Tracks to Download: “Can’t Hold Us,” “Natural Disaster,” “Hey Momma/Hit the Road Jack,” “I Need Your Love” & “Daft Punk”

Word of Mouth by The Wanted

Unlike certain pop stars or musical groups that are currently dominating the Top 40, I actually enjoy listening to the Wanted. They have impeccable harmonies and are not afraid to record controversial songs. With the help of some of their team of A-list songwriters and producers including Dr. Luke, Cirkut, Steve Mac and Adam Messinger, they have created a great dance pop album that will make fans dance until they drop. Tracks to Download: “We Own the Night,” “Show Me Love (America),” “Walks Like Rihanna” & “Glow in the Dark”

Britney Spears Perfume single cover

Britney’s latest single, “Perfume,” showcases her best vocals. (Cover property of RCA Records)

Perfume” by Britney Spears

Britney Spears sings a ballad! What? Yep…your eyes are not deceiving you, my readers! “Perfume” marks Ms. Spears’ first collaboration with celebrated singer-songwriter Sia Furler. This ballad is probably one of Britney’s best songs that she released this decade and I am so happy that she released a ballad.  Well done, Britney! B+

Dope” by Lady Gaga

“Dope” is the final single from Artpop that Lady Gaga released before next week’s release date.  It is an honest piano ballad that showcased Gaga’s signature piano licks and powerful vocals.  I think “Dope” is a contender to be a dark horse during the upcoming Grammy race because it perfectly showcased Mother Monster’s artistry.
