5. Dolly Parton & Carrie Underwood, “I Will Always Love You

Dolly joined the American Idol alum for her All-Star Holiday Special to sing one of her most popular songs. Carrie’s vocals grew stronger due to Dolly’s presence and it was one of the most memorable duets of the special.

4. Dolly Parton & Elton John, “Turn the Lights Out When You Leave”/”Imagine

At the 2005 Country Music Awards (CMA), Dolly joined the iconic piano man for two superb performances.  Elton’s beautiful piano playing along with the combination of their vocals breathed new life into Elton’s Peachtree Road hit and the sentimental John Lennon classic.

3. Dolly Parton & Norah Jones, “The Grass is Blue

Two years earlier, Ms. Parton was joined by nine-time Grammy Award-winner Norah Jones for an impeccable cover of “The Grass is Blue” on the CMA Stage.  Norah’s jazzy vocals took this Bluegrass standard to another level of excellence.  Music lovers would also appreciate seeing the camaraderie between Dolly and Norah.

2. Dolly Parton & Kris Kristofferson, “From Here to the Moon and Back

When I watch Joyful Noise, one scene that always me to tears is G.G. (Dolly)’s “reunion” with her deceased husband, Bernard Sparrow (Kris Kristofferson). With the accompaniment of their grandson, Randy Garrity (Jeremy Jordan), it remains one of the most beautiful and tear-jerking moments of the show.

1. Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers: “Islands in the Stream

One of the definite duets of all-time is the first team-up between Dolly and her longtime duet partner: the iconic Kenny Rogers. Their duet of the Bee Gees-penned tune showcases excellent vocal chemistry and charisma that will get anyone out their seat.

Dolly’s 42nd studio album, “Blue Smoke”, will be released on May 20.
