Thousands of fans will flock to Bartle Hall to celebrate the best in pop culture.
If you are heading to Planet Comicon, Jake’s Take has a few tips and potential highlights that will hopefully create a memorable experience!
Check out Artists Alley: One of Planet Comicon’s most recognizable features is its Artists Alley. Hundreds of creators will represent the four corners of pop culture (anime, cartoons, comics and science fiction). Among the creators that will be attending this year’s event include superstar writers such as Jason Aaron (Star Wars & Thor), Cullen Bunn (Aquaman & Sinestro), Dennis Hopeless (Spider-Woman) and Dayton Ward (Best Selling Star Wars author). Do not forget to meet and chat with breakthrough artists such as comics legend Kevin Maguire (Justice League), Eisner and Harvey Award winner Don Rosa (Disney’s Duck Universe), local favorite Rick Stasi (DC/Marvel) and Usagi Yojimbo creator Stan Sakai!
Make Mine MCU: The Marvel Cinematic Universe is expected to make a huge splash at Planet Comicon! Guardians of the Galaxy stars Karen Gillan (Nebula), Sean Gunn (Kraglin) and Michael Rooker (Yondu Udonta) will represent 2014’s breakout movie, while Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fan favorites J. August Richards (Deathlok) & for Saturday only: Ming-Na Wen (Agent Melinda May) might share classified information to several lucky S.H.I.E.L.D. agents-in-training!
Trekkies, Oncers & Rangers unite: Get ready, Trekkies! Star Trek Voyager’s Garrett Wang will talk about Ensign Harry Kim’s adventures in the Delta Quadrant at his Friday panel. Meanwhile, Once Upon A Time’s Raphael Sbarge will give an inside look into Storybrooke at his Sunday panel! Finally, two Red Power Rangers, will make their Kansas City debuts! Steve Cardenas (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers & Zeo’s Rocky) and Jason Faunt (Time Force’s Wes) will talk about the celebrated franchise at their Friday panel.
A Tale of Two Amells: CW fans were excited to learn that both Arrow’s Emerald Archer (Stephen Amell) and Flash’s resident firecracker: Firestorm (Robbie Amell) would be appearing at this year’s Planet Comicon. While fans will have the chance to catch up with The Tomorrow People and How I Met Your Mother alum all weekend, the Archer will close out Sunday with an exciting panel.
Cosplay: Do not fret if you see multiple Batmans, Wolverines, Elsas, Gokus, Jedi Knights, Starfleet personnel and Doctor Whos walking around Bartle Hall! They are just dedicated fans that love pop culture and want to be part of your Planet Comicon experience. In addition to all of the Planet Comicon excitement, cosplayers of all ages will enter the 2015 Costume Contest! This will definitely be the highlight of Saturday night.
Gaming: Are you a gamer? Planet Comicon will have two unique opportunities for gamers to compete against your fellow attendees. The eBash Electronic Gaming Zone will offer racing simulators, Wii U casual and competitive battles of both Mario Kart and Super Smash Brothers! Are tabletop games your thing? The Gamer’s Haven is back and will offer a smorgasbord of board games that you can play at the convention.
