It is a privilege to welcome iconic entertainer and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Grey Griffin to Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar.
Since 1996, Grey has performed over 1,500 cartoon voices. She has voiced Vicky from The Fairly OddParents, Mandy from The Grim Adventures of Grim & Mandy, Frankie Foster from Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Catwoman in the Batman: Arkham series, and Captain Marvel in various Marvel animation projects. She also voiced Daphne Blake in various Scooby-Doo projects since 2000.
Her film roles include Grandma Sanchez in The Book of Life, Arcee in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Bumblebee, and Setsu Oiwa in Studio Ghibi’s final film, When Marnie was There.
Grey Griffin voices Bella Bunny in the upcoming holiday animated film, A Chuck E. Cheese Christmas. Written and executive produced by Zac Moncref and Jon Colton Barry, A Chuck E. Cheese Christmas follows the anamorphic mouse, Bella, and his friends, Helen Henry, Jasper Jowls, Munch, and Pasqually, as they plan the ultimate holiday celebration – a surprise party for Santa Claus. However, the group has its work cut out for them, as not only a mischievous Elf Prince named Leggymos wants to shut down their plans, but it is also not easy to surprise the man who “sees you when you are sleeping and knows when you are awake.” Joining Grey as a part of the voice cast includes Nathan Kress (Chuck E. Cheese), Nolan North (Jasper Jowls), Kari Wahlgren (Helen Henry and Mrs. Claus / Sandy), Fred Tatasciore (Mr. Munch, Troll King, and Santa Claus), Michael Gough (Pasqually), and Trevor Duvall (Leggymos).
On this edition of A Conversation, Grey Griffin spoke about the similarities and differences among some of her iconic characters, finding Bella’s voice, and the biggest lesson audiences should take away from A Chuck E. Cheese Christmas.
Jacob Elyachar: Grey, you have worked in the entertainment industry for decades. How have you grown over the years as a voice actor?
Grey Griffin: I guess I’ve gotten a little pickier? Ha! I used to be willing to do ANYTHING for a paycheck. Now I tend to choose projects that really resonate with me. I mean…it’s not like I’m turning down roles left and right…. but if something is kinda terrible….I’m not as desperate as I used to be!
JE: Many of my audience members know you as the iconic voices of Daphne Blake, Catwoman (Selina Kyle), and Vicky. What are some of the similarities and differences between each of these classic characters?
GG: I have a great group of old friends like Daphne does…. Selina and I both love sparkles….and Vicky and I both hate babysitting! I’m good with my OWN kids but not with other people’s!
JE: What drew you to join A Chuck E. Cheese Christmas?
GG: I just loved the writers! I worked with them on Be Cool Scooby Doo, so when I heard they had a new project in the works…I was excited to reunite with them!
JE: This is Bella Bunny’s first appearance in animation. How did you find her voice?
GG: I just tried to sound as DANGEROUSLY CUTE AS POSSIBLE!!!!!
JE: One of Bella Bunny’s most significant problems is dealing with her genetic overcuteness. How does she turn her disadvantage into a solution?
GG: She uses her powers for GOOD!
JE: In your humble opinion, what are the biggest lessons that audiences should take away after watching A Chuck E. Cheese Christmas?
GG: That almost ANYTHING is possible with the help of good friends!
JE: Why should my audience watch A Chuck E. Cheese Christmas?
GG: They might need a fun, family-friendly halftime distraction on Thanksgiving…to keep from discussing politics!
A Chuck E. Cheese Christmas debuts on YouTube & Prime Video on November 27!
