Multiple news outlets including ABC News, BBC News, CNN and The New York Times have reported that Joe Cocker has died!

The Associated Press released a statement from Mr. Cocker’s London-based agent, Barrie Marshall, that stated that the 70-year-old iconic singer past away today in Colorado after complications from lung cancer.

Throughout his nearly six decades in the recording industry, Mr. Cocker released 22 studio albums, won a Grammy and was named one of Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Singers of All-Time in 2008!

I became a fan of Mr. Cocker when he performed his signature song: “A Little Help From My Friends” with American Idol: Season Nine’s Final Two: Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze. Mr. Cocker blew Lee away with his bombastic vocals and embraced Crystal as his equal.

Like the late Ray Charles, every song that Mr. Cocker covered became his own. He will always own “Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word,” “Maybe I’m Amazed,” “You Are So Beautiful” and “Up Where We Belong.”

Jake’s Take wants to extend its condolences to Mr. Cocker’s widow, Pam, his countless friends and millions of fans around the world.

I do not own the clips that are sprinkled in this article. They belong to their respective media groups.
