After months of auditions, surprising eliminations, six Golden Buzzers, and 11 finalists, America’s Got Talent (AGT) wrapped up its seventeenth season. Who joined Bianca Ryan, Terry Fator, Kenichi Ebina, Mat Franco, Paul Zerdin, Darci Lynne, Shin Lim, Kodi Lee, Brandon Leake, and Dustin Tavella in the Winners’ Circle? Which acts made up of the final Season 17 Top Five?
Read on to find out!
The Black Eyed Peas opened up the AGT: Season 17 finale as they performed on top of the Pasadena Civic Center. They escorted Terry inside the theatre as they performed “Don’t You Worry.” Next up, AGT: Season 12 fan-favorites Light Balance performed a great routine to “Can’t Stop the Feeling.” Although I wished they had incorporated the Players Choir into the performance, seeing Terry in the act’s signature costume was fun.
As they exited the stage and the judges made their grand entrance, Terry recapped the final night of performances. The Season 17 finalists returned to the Pasadena Civic Center stage, and Terry revealed they had over 1 billion views on social media.
While Howie hosted AGT’s final Sonic Route 44 lounge, entertainment legend Henry Winkler introduced two-time winning champion Shin Lim, who teamed up with Yu Hojin and Nicolas Ribs for an illuminating magic performance. I got chills throughout the performance and was in awe of their showmanship.
Jon Pardi teamed up with Drake Milligan for a rousing version of “Last Night Lonely.” I hope that they record that song together because they sound excellent together. Next, Chapel Hart sang Bonnie Raitt’s “Something to Talk About” with the one and only Darius Rucker! I would love to see this quartet on tour if they ever came to Kansas City. Whatever happens to Chapel Hart and Drake, these two acts will change country music for the better!
Comedian Mike E. Winfield headlined the Roast of Simon Cowell. After announcing that he turned off Simon’s buzzer, Don MacMillan (who brought a new PowerPoint), Mr. Pants (who claimed that his assistant put Simon’s pants), and Lace Larrabee (who took shots at his “midlife crisis chic” haircut). Finally, the Roastmaster General, Jeff Ross, took on his hero: “The King of Mean,” before turning it over to Metaphysic Simon Cowell.
A trio of ventriloquists invaded the stage. Celia started the performance out with “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” She was joined by Season 12 winner Darci Lynne and Petunia and the Season Two champion and AGT legend Terry Fator. They ended with Israel Kamakawiwoʻole’s version of The Wizard of Oz classic!
After Heidi and Terry scared the judges (and the audience) at Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights, Mayyas and Kristy Sellars joined forces for a superb visual presentation. Once the show honored Terry with a few clips, his Golden Buzzer act – Avery Dixon, joined forces with Trombone Shorty for a magnificent performance of Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground.” I loved how Trombone Shorty invited Avery to join him on tour.
Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer act, Sara James, concluded the superstar duets with “Let’s Get It Started.” By the performance, it looks like Sara fits right in with the legendary pop and hip-hop crew.
The superstar duets are over! Now, it was time for the last Top Five of the season! Drake Milligan, Metaphysic (WTF, AMERICA?), Kristy Sellars (ANOTHER WTF, AMERICA?), the Mayyas, and Chapel Hart! I will be blunt, Avery and Celia were robbed! Pole dancing is not entertaining and Metaphysic’s technology could severely destroy the entertainment industry.
Fifth Place: Chapel Hart
Fourth Place: Metaphysic (THANK GOD THEY DID NOT WIN!)
Third Place: Drake Milligan (WOW!!!!)
That left Kristy Sellars and the Mayyas as the Top Two.
The winner of AGT: Season 17 was….MAYYAS!
CONGRATULATIONS MAYYAS ON WINNING AGT: Season 17! See you next summer!
