Singer-songwriter AJ Mitchell is having a breakout year. The “All My Friends” performer returned to New York City to celebrate the release of his latest EP: Slow Dance.
Superfans, music influencers, and collaborators congregated at Lower Manhattan’s The Box for the celebration. Before AJ Mitchell took the stage, his fans gathered close to the stage, while others gathered at the bar to grab drinks or have fun at the interactive photo booth. Others went upstairs and bought merchandise that Los Angeles-based clothing company LefthandLA provided for the evening.
After watching fans dance and sing along with Ariana Grande’s “Thank U Next,” AJ Mitchell finally took the stage around 8:30 p.m. All throughout the mini-set, the YouTube personality showcased his bright future in the music industry with his superb vocals and songwriting skills.
Some of the highlights from AJ Mitchell’s mini-set included a powerful version of “Used to Be,” the haunting “I Don’t Want You Back,” and his signature song: “All My Friends.” However, it was the final track of the evening, “Slow Dance,” that turned out to be a crowd pleaser. While AJ’s collaborator, up-and-coming artist Ava Max, was unable to join in on the fun, dance troupe Moment of Brothers, tore up the Box’s dance floor with an epic impromptu dance as AJ performed.
This is my second time seeing AJ Mitchell perform live and I truly believe that he is on track to have the same career as Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes, and Charlie Puth. I am looking forward to seeing what he has in store with the next chapter in his career.
