Blake Shelton had the last steal of the Battle Rounds!
The four-time winning coach has taken his time to build Season 11’s Team Blake, but it will be up to Oklahoma’s native son to find the final artist that will make up his team.
Who was the lucky artist? Read on to find out!
Blake’s last battle of the season was Austin Allsup and Preston James! He asked the sons of music progeny to sing former Team Adam advisor John Fogerty’s “Bad Moon Rising.” After watching the pre-performance package, they sound good but could better. Bette advised the duo to sing like the apocalypse is coming and Blake added that this battle needed to be well thought out. The “God Gave Me You” also said that this would be one of the best battles from his team. It turned out that he was right, both Austin and Preston delivered solid vocal performance, blew me away and hopefully made John Fogerty proud! However, if I had to call it, I would give it to Austin who gave me the chills throughout the song. During the coaches’ comments, Miley and Adam could not decide between the two of them, but Alicia suggested Blake should go with Preston. Thank goodness that Blake decided to go with Austin!
Broadway veteran Gabriel Violett had a challenge on his hands when Alicia paired him with powerhouse sister duo Whitney & Sharon. Alicia chose them to perform Extreme’s “More Than Words.” When all three of them sang the song during the first rehearsal with Charlie Puth, I nearly teared up. I firmly believe that this was the most emotional Battle Round performance of the season. Between Whitney & Sharon’s impeccable vocal harmonies and Gabriel’s determination, I could not tear my eyes off of my television. After watching the battle, I along with Adam and Miley believed that the ladies won this fight. Hopefully, the girls will break the duos’ curse during the Knockout Rounds! Although, I was a little surprised that Blake did not grab Gabriel. Hopefully, someone in the music industry was watching his performance and offers him a contract!
The final Battle Round of Season 11 belonged to Team Adam’s Bindi Liebowitz and Brendan Fletcher! Adam Levine gave the two East Coast natives Mike Broussard’s “Home.” This song has the potential to blend rock and soul together, and I have to agree with Team Adam guest advisor Sammy Hager that they took everyone to church. This battle was like chewing on a satisfying piece of ear candy. Bindi gave me Rihanna vocal vibes, while Brendan would give Phillip Phillips a run for his money with his gravely blues-rock growl. Adam decided to go with Brendan, but Bindi got one final chance to shine as an artist on Team Blake!
Next week, country superstars Tim McGraw & Faith Hill join the show as the Knockout Rounds begin!
