For the past seven seasons, America’s Got Talent has delivered some of the best-unsigned talent in the country and transformed them into stars.
The show produced some unforgettable acts including Terry Fator, Barbara Padilla, Recycled Percussion, Jackie Evancho, Prince Poppycock, Fighting Gravity, iLuminate and Tom Cotter.
However, outside of Terry Fator, the show has not delivered a single winner that has changed the entertainment industry.
We could experience the same thing tonight if the wrong talent is crowned.
But no matter what happened tonight, the finale at Radio City Music Hall was about celebrating one end of a journey and the start of another!
So who won? Read on to find out….
After recapping the final performance show of the year and some banter between the judges, the Radio City Rockettes took the stage to perform a dazzling routine from their new show: Heart and Lights.
Icona Pop continued the celebration of the season with two of their hit singles: “I Love It” and “All Night.” Before they got to the first results, the audience went behind the scenes with the judges for their yearly bloopers. For the first of the superstar duets, Cami Bradley teamed up with Gavin DeGraw and sang his hit: “Not Over You” before debuting his new single: “Best I Ever Had.”
Once in a while, America’s Got Talent delivers some intriguing collaborations. From Prince Poppycock and Donna Summer’s medley to Fighting Gravity and Lionel Richie’s “Dancing on the Ceiling,” This time, Kenichi opened up for Il Divo and Heather Headley’s duet of “Can You Feel Love Tonight.” While it was great to hear Il Divo and Heather Headley’s voices together, I wished that utilized Kenichi more.
AGT took a trip to Inside the Actors’ Studio as its legendary host: James Lipton interviewed Taylor Williamson. Among some of the highlights of the set included learning about what turns Taylor on: “Boobs!” The host asked him, “Any boobs in particular?” Taylor responded: “She knows” as the camera, pointed at Heidi Klum.
For Collins Key’s final trick, he combined his first two performances together. To help him with his final trick, he turned to Today’s favorite dynamic duo: Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford to help him out! While the timing was a little slow, he successfully befuddled Hoda and Kathie Lee.
Forte performed with the man who helped kick-start their ambitious run on AGT: celebrated vocalist Josh Groban. They performed a medley of his two hits: “To Where You Are” and “Brave.” I think everyone at Radio City Music Hall and at home received chills as they showcased their beautiful harmonies.
The final superstar duet of the night belonged to Jimmy Rose with his personal hero: Dierks Bentley. They had great stage chemistry and their vocals blended very well together. Before Nick got to the results, Earth, Wind and Fire performed their signature song: “September” and their new single, “My Promise” from their new album: Now, Then and Forever.
After the R&B legends left the stage, it was time to get down to business….The act that finished in sixth place was…CAMI BRADLEY! Before she left the stage, Cami thanked the crew and Howie told her that the journey was just beginning! Magician COLLINS KEY was the next to go and stated that he was grateful to the Keypers and Howard added that he did a wonderful job!
Before Luke Bryan came on stage, there was a surprise elimination of an act that I thought would be one of the acts last standing. FORTE came in fourth place! Everyone in Radio City Music Hall was shocked but the trio had a fan in Heidi Klum, who stated that: “I am a huge fan of you and I will follow you wherever you go!”
Luke Bryan exploded onto the Radio City Music Hall stage when he performed his latest single: “That’s My Kind of Night.” After the country star left the stage, the Final Three became the Final Two as JIMMY ROSE was eliminated from the show.
This left…Taylor Williamson and Kenichi Ebina as the last two acts standing!
The winner of America’s Got Talent 2013…was…KENICHI EBINA!!!!
Congratulations Kenichi on your win! You deserved it!
Thank you so much for reading my AGT recaps! I hope that you enjoyed reading every single one of them. My “America’s Got Talent” coverage will return when the NBC show returns for Season Nine in 2014.
