One of Disney’s most beloved characters made her debut tonight on Once Upon A Time!
Ariel (JoAnna Garcia Swisher) swam to the Enchanted Forest shores tonight. Was she able to help the Charmings turn the tide against Peter Pan? Read on to find out…
Viewers first encounter Ariel in the Enchanted Forest. She saved Snow White from drowning in the ocean. Ariel revealed that she fell in love with Prince Eric, who she saved from a shipwreck off-screen, and hoped to attend his ball honoring Ursula, the Sea Goddess. The Little Mermaid also revealed that she could transform her fin into legs for 24 hours.
After some pointers from Snow, Ariel met her prince…who recognized her immediately. Eric invited her to join him on his travels and stated that he would be heartbroken if she did not join her. As the Little Mermaid revealed the details of their encounter, little did they know that Regina was watching them through the Magic Mirror!
Regina took the opportunity to travel to Eric’s castle and met Ariel as Ursula. The villainess stated that there was a way to get what she wanted without telling Eric the truth. Ariel made a deal with Regursula to keep her legs and “save” Snow White by giving her a fin. When Ariel realized the truth…she sacrificed her own happy ending by saving Snow! Unfortunately, it came with a cost…Regina stolen Ariel’s voice and denied her a happy ending. A furious Ursula visited Regina and threatened the Evil Queen with her gold tentacles.
Back in Neverland, Regina grew restless from working the Charmings and Hook and left the group. She ran into Mr. Gold and revealed that Pan’s malevolent shadow was behind the “Belle” illusion. The two villains agreed to join forces and decided to give Pan “a fate worse than death.” Gold stated that the item was back in his shop in Storybrooke and Regina found someone that could help them cross dimensions…ARIEL!
While the Little Mermaid was hesitant to help her old nemesis, Regina gave her back her voice and an object that can grant her access to her legs again. The Evil Queen also told Ariel that she would be traveling to Storybrooke to not only look for the object but for her happy ending, as she revealed that Eric is alive.
Next week, Ariel makes it to Storybrooke as the fates of both Henry and Neverland hang in the balance.
