On Friday, October 4, fans will continue to pack the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center to celebrate the best in comics, anime, and pop culture at the 2019 New York Comic-Con (NYCC).
A lot of significant news has come out of the NYCC panels. If you are going to be at the Javits Center, here are some of the panels that you need to attend:
Hello, What Have We Here? Spotlight on Billy Dee Williams (Room 1A06-Javits Center; 11 AM to 12 PM)
Actor Billy Dee Williams has spent seven decades in the entertainment industry. From Brian’s Song, Lady Sings the Blues, and Mahogany to the Star Wars universe, he has entertained generations of fans. Moderator Derek Maki will join Billy Dee Williams, who will reprise his role of Lando Calrissian in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in December, at this panel.
DC Nation (Main Stage 1D-Javits Center; 12:30 to 1:30 PM)
Calling all DC Comics fans! For over 80 years, this legendary publishing company has told impeccable stories that are ingrained in fans’ heads. DC confirmed that several of their top storytellers (Brian Azzarello, Lee Bermejo, N.K. Jemisin, Tom King, and Sean Murphy) will join Dan DiDio at this NYCC panel.
You Will Be Found: Broadway’s Dear Evan Hansen (Room 1A10-Javtis Center; 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM)
If DC Comics is not your cup of tea, Dear Evan Hansen might be. For three years, this Tony and Grammy-winning musical deals with high school, mental health, and social media. Actor Andrew Barth Feldman (Evan Hansen) and playwright Steven Levenson along with several cast members, will be taking part at this NYCC panel.
HBO’s Watchmen Screening & Panel (Main Stage 1D-Javits Center; 3:45 to 5:45 PM)
HBO has brought the legendary DC Comics storyline Watchmen to life! Damon Lindelof will introduce Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ legendary tale to a new generation in this new series. The show’s cast includes Tim Blake Nelson, Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, and Louis Gossett, Jr. Fans who are interested in seeing a screening of this show should block out two hours for this special event. Watchmen premieres on Oct. 20 at 9 p.m.
Marvel Comics: Next Big Thing (Room 1A06-Javits Center; 4 to 5 PM)
2019 has been a massive year for the House of Ideas. From War of The Realms and Absolute Carnage to House of X and Powers of X, fans have devoured these massive storylines. Marvel Comics: Next Best Thing is probably the best panel for NYCC fans to learn about some of the 2020’s up-and-coming adventures. Marvel confirmed that Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski, Dan Slott (Fantastic Four & Amazing Spider-Man), Donny Cates (Guardians of the Galaxy), and Al Ewing (Immortal Hulk) will participate.
It’s the Big Batman 1989 Movie 30th Anniversary (Room 1A10-Javits Center; 8 to 9 PM)
30 years ago, Batman (1989) was released into theatres. Fans saw Michael Keaton’s Batman face-off against Jack Nicholson’s Joker in an epic battle that made over $251 million over its lifetime. NYCC will celebrate this game-changing superhero with the film’s director and pop culture aficionado Michael Uslan.
