Last night, The Voice: Season 11 Top 8 took the stage to prove that they were worthy of making it to next week’s season finale.
Which artists made it to the finale? Who was voted into the finale via Instant Save? Read on to the find out!
After Carson had chatted with the coaches, it was time for him to reveal the name of the first finalist: Billy Gilman. This was a no-brainer, but I believe that his fight for the title should not be easy, and I hope that the Powers-That-Be choose some heavy pieces for him to perform. I also want to add that he should look at Caleb Johnson, Chris Mann, Clark Beckham, the Forte Tenors, Jeff Gutt, and Jordan Smith’s previous performances on YouTube. Those six acts that I just mentioned made it to their respective show’s finals, but they used their showmanship to blow away their fan base and secured their future in the music industry. So, Billy…please show some emotion when you sing!
The Top Eight met Voice UK coach Jennifer Hudson for a tour of the Hairspray Live set. Even though it was brief, I enjoyed seeing the Grammy and Oscar winner give them advice that will help them as they exit the show. After the Hairspray Live package, Sundance Head was named the second Season 11 finalist. I believe that Sundance has delivered spectacular performances week after week and I am very excited that he will be in next week’s finale.
The third finalist that was moving directly to the finale was We McDonald! Ever since the post-Olympics preview, We’s unique voice captivated me and all throughout the competition, her performances have not disappointed me. I am thrilled for both We and Alicia, and I cannot wait to see what they have in store for us next week!
Before Carson could reveal any more results, Blake sang “A Guy with a Girl,” his latest single off of his tenth studio album: If I’m Honest. As the coach took his seat, Carson revealed that Ali Caldwell, Josh Gallagher (WOW!), and Christian Cuevas. Sadly, it was time for Aaron Gibson and Brendan Fletcher to leave the program.
While Adam and Miley said “Farewell” to their eliminated contestants, Christian Cuevas kicked off the Instant Save Round with Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” It was tender, but at times, I thought that Christian rushed the song, but it was sturdy. B
Ali Caldwell sang Rihanna’s “Sledgehammer,” and she slew it! Her upper register blew me away, and it was one of the best Instant Save performances of the season. A
Josh Gallagher closed the round with “I Drive Your Truck.” There were some pitch problems and unlike both Christian and Ali; Josh did not bare his soul on the stage. Josh seems like a nice guy, but I believe that his time on the show is up! D
Sadly, America did not listen to me, Miley Cyrus or Michael Slezak! Josh became the second member of Team Adam to make the Final Four effectively eliminating Team Miley’s Ali Caldwell and Christian from the competition.
Next week, “The Voice: Season 11” Final Four take the stage!
