Last night, The Top 10 paid tribute to the show’s six American Idol winners.
While there were several standout performances, only nine could move forward to next week’s live show.
Who was in the Bottom Three? Did the judges use their coveted one season only save? Which two former eliminated Idols battled it out for the 11th spot on tour?

After Jimmy Iovine gave his own critiques on last night’s performances, Ryan revealed the first result of the evening. For the first time in Idol’s history, viewers had the chance to see where the contestants dominated across the country. While Devin and Janelle had strong turn out in Puerto Rico and Tennessee respectively, Candice dominated South Carolina and the first person to be declared safe.
The Idols performed a Glee-like version of The Croods’ “Shine Your Away” that only be described as cheesy. As the contestants took their seats, Ryan dragged Kree to the center of the stage where she was surprised by the appearance of the Mayor of her hometown in Louisville, Texas, who gave her the Key to the City and Ryan declared her to be safe.
Bon Jovi crashed the results show with a rousing cover of “Because We Can,” it was time to reintroduce two fallen Idols who were vying for one final spot in the competition. Up first, Charlie Askew redeemed himself where he showed off his songwriting skills with “Sky Blue Diamond,” which he received a standing ovation from his fellow contestants and Randy, Keith and Nicki. Next up, Aubrey Cleland channeled Beyoncé as she performed a flawless “Out Here on My Own” that received a standing ovation from Mariah, Keith and Randy.
Reigning champ Phillip Phillips delivered a surprising rendition of “Gone, Gone, Gone” that impressed everyone and received an award from Randy stating that the Season 11 Idol sold 4,000,000 units. After that Ryan slowly revealed that Angie, Lazaro, Janelle, Burnell and Paul were all safe. Leaving Curtis and Devin as the season’s first Bottom Two participants.
The first person who had to sing for their live was Curtis Finch, Jr. As he was singing “I Believe I Can Fly,” the judges debated whether or not would he be saved. Unfortunately, they were not unanimous and Curtis’s journey ended tonight.
