Last night, I had the incredible opportunity to go to Universal Studios Hollywood for a taping of The Voice.
For someone who has been a long time fan of this show, I had a blast! I met the show’s musical director, Paul Mirkovich, and was a couple of yards away from the coaches’ chairs and had the contestants in my sight!
My fellow audience members and I provided the necessary energy for the artists to deliver their performances.
Of all the artists that impressed me…it was Will Champlin…who delivered a show-stopping rendition of Etta James’ “At Last.” Will’s rendition of the R&B classic landed into iTunes’ Top 10 (number nine) and received the multiplier. (Will was the first artist to be saved!)
As I left the soundstage and received an air-blown kiss from Christina Aguilera herself…I thought: “Who was going into the Top Six?” Read on to find out….
UK songstress Ellie Goulding kicked off the evening’s entertainment and teamed with Will and his fellow Team Adam teammate James Wolpert and Team Christina’s Matthew Schuler. They had great vocal chemistry and it was great to see Ellie and the guys shine.
Once Ellie left the stage and Carson chatted up with the coaches, it was time to get down to business. After Will was saved, he performed “Will the Circle be Unbroken?” with a choir! Once the choir left the stage, Carson revealed that Cole Vosbury was saved.
Coach CeeLo left his chair to premiere “Amy.” It was interesting to see models dressed in Wonderland-like clothing and Black Swan attitudes standing still throughout the performance. Once CeeLo and his White Queen left the stage, it was time for the latest round of confessionals.
After making fun of Cole’s beard and the latest rounds of impressions, Team Christina’s Jacquie Lee was the third artist to be saved. After hugging her coach, she rejoined the Final Eight as they performed a OneRepublic medley that featured “Apologize” and “All the Right Moves.”
The last two artists that were saved were Team Adam’s Tessanne Chin and Team Adam’s James Wolpert. This left three artists in need of a save: Matthew, Caroline Pennell and Ray Boudreaux! Viewers voted to save…Matthew Schuler!
Next week, The Final Six perform for a chance to go into the Final Four!
