America’s Got Talent (AGT): Fantasy League entered its third week of competition!
So far, some of Got Talent’s top acts have been recruited by the judges (Simon Cowell, Mel B, Howie Mandel, and Heidi Klum) to join their dream teams. We have seen fan favorites fall short and eliminated from the competition. In addition, fans also saw surprising frontrunners emerge and head-scratching semifinal advancements (I still don’t get everyone’s love for Adrian and Hurricane).
Tonight, Heidi Klum has the Golden Buzzer in her possession! Did she steal an act from Mel B and the guys? Or did she advance a member of Team Heidi to the AGT: Fantasy League finale? Read on to find out!
After Terry made his entrance and told Heidi that she had the Golden Buzzer this week, it was time to get down to business. Mel B’s only act of the night, Junior New System, went first. The dance troupe stole the show during AGT: Season 13. Mel B advised them to remix their music, which worked to their advantage. I forgot how precise their choreography was and how they moved in those tall heels. I loved the routine from start to finish. B+
I loved seeing Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar friends, Chapel Hart, walk out on the stage! The trio earned the second Group Golden Buzzer back in Season 17 with their original hit: “You Can Have ‘Em, Jolene.” They delivered epic performances but fell on their face during the finale when they sang “American Pride.” However, their mentor, Simon Cowell, wanted the ladies to redo “American Pride.” I got the chills from the performance, and their harmonies were on point. Fritzy Rosmerian is from Indonesia’s Got Talent and made it to the show’s Top Five, and now she is on Team Howie. He revealed that Fritzy received over 40 million views on social media and told Fritzy to incorporate the judges into the act. She asked Howie to name her stuffed animal, asked Heidi to think of a color (which they failed to match), and asked Simon to throw a stuffed bear to a navy shirt and glasses kid in the audience. She matched Howie who spelled his name backwards and wore a red (Heidi’s color). It was average! C
The Pack Drumline is a part of Simon’s dream team. They debuted on Season 17 and have performed in Las Vegas as a part of the AGT Superstars live show. The group combined Queen’s “We Will Rock You” and Kendrick Lamar’s “Humble” together. Some of their members added flips into the routine, and I was impressed with the group’s growth. B+
Enkh-Erdene won Mongolia’s Got Talent, and Heidi chose him because of his fantastic voice. Tonight, he sang “Friends in Low Places,” and my jaw dropped multiple times. He has a fabulous voice; this is the first time I was left speechless. A-
Heidi Klum also grabbed fan-favorite Sofie Dossi for her team. The young contortionist delivered epic performances, including one that caught the eye of guest judge Reba McEntire, who gave her the Golden Buzzer during the Season 11 Judges Cuts. Since AGT: Season 11, Sofie has become a social media sensation. Sofie has blossomed as a performer, and the stunts were scarier than her time on both Season 11 and the inaugural season of AGT: Champions. It was perfection! I am so glad that Heidi was able to advance her with the Golden Buzzer! A+
I screamed delightfully when Howie picked out another Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar friend: Canada’s Got Talent finalist Geneviève Côté! It was great seeing both of them together, and I was so happy when she walked onto the AGT: Fantasy League stage. Geneviève is one of the greatest storytellers in franchise history, and just like CGT, she blew me away again! A-
Heidi picked Yu Hojin as a team member, but he revealed that he wanted Simon to be his mentor. Yu earned Simon’s respect during his AGT: Season 18 run. He surrounded his routine with paper airplanes and linked them to memories. His performance was spectacular, and I got chills. He is one of the best magicians to grace the stage this decade. A
Ichikawa Koikuchi is one of the biggest duds on Team Howie. The BGT alum is known as a wind musician (aka farter). While this made me laugh, I thought of the acts robbed of a spot in this competition and agreed with Mel B’s buzzer. D
I was so happy to see Loren Allred walk across the AGT: Fantasy League stage. This performance marked Loren’s first time performing on NBC in 12 years since her time on The Voice. Loren sang The Greatest Showman’s signature ballad, “Never Enough,” while Jenny Lind actress Rebecca Ferguson lip-synched. The song has been covered by multiple people ranging from superstars such as Kelly Clarkson and Nicole Scherzinger to AGT alumni Brian Justin Crum and Glennis Grace. Loren decided to audition for Britain’s Got Talent in 2022, she performed “Never Enough” and received veteran judge Amanda Holden’s Golden Buzzer. Despite not winning her season, Loren captured the hearts of the British public.
Loren made her AGT debut on Simon’s dream team two years later. She and Simon decided that Loren would sing “Never Enough” again but with a twist. She started a cappella before singing it in the classic arrangement and hitting the stratosphere with the Kelly Clarkson and Nicole Scherzinger ending. It’s one of the best vocals of the season so far! A+
The AGT: Fantasy League’s third set of semifinalists are: the Pack Drumline, Enkh-Erdene, Yu Hojin, Loren Allred, and Chapel Hart.
Next week is the final Qualifiers and Simon controls the Golden Buzzer!
