The Starlight Theatre 2013 season continues with its second show of the summer!
Next week, Catch Me If You Can flies into town for a six-night stay at the outdoor theatre.
Catch Me If You Can focuses on the 1980 autobiography of legendary con artist Frank Abagnale, Jr., who passed himself off as a doctor, lawyer and a pilot-all before the age of 21.
Hot on his trail is FBI agent Carl Hanratty, who wants to see Frank behind bars for constantly breaking the law.
The duo’s epic game of cat-and-mouse will transport audience members to the 1960s, where Frank hopped from place-to-place in order to better his life, but learns a very hard lesson about falling in love while on the lam.
“I remember watching Frank Abagnale, Jr. on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in the late ‘70s,’“ said Denton Yockey, President and Executive Producer of Starlight Theatre. “His stories were the kind you think can only be written by a fiction writer, but these were real life. When his life story, Catch Me If You Can, came out in 1980, it quickly became and still remains one of my all-time favorite books.“
In addition for being nominated for four Tony Awards and six Drama Desk Awards, Catch Me If You Can features an all-star creative team that includes Ragtime’s Terrance McNally on book duties, Hairspray’s Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman provided the score and Broadway legend Jack O’Brien (Into the Woods and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) directed the show.
Catch Me If You Can opens June 11 at Starlight Theatre.
