One of the most highly anticipated music festivals taking place this summer is Dancefestopia. Located in Downtown Kansas City’s Richard L. Berkley Riverfront Park, concertgoers will have the opportunity attend this two-day high energy music festival which will not feature major artists including Wiz Khalifa, Flo Rida, Dev, 30H!3 and Matisyahu but also rising artists and DJs from across the country.
Dancefestopia is the brainchild of Borda Productions producers and event organizers Doug and Kevin Bordegon, who wanted to improve Kansas City’s presence in the concert scene.
“We follow events across the country and we noticed a gap in Kansas City for high energy music festivals.” said Doug Bordegon. “There is not a true dance festival in Kansas City.”
The Bordegon Brothers planned this before last year’s big Kansrockas Music Festival but while they waited until the festival was on hiatus, Bordegon states that their rival only focused on multiple genres of music while Dancefestopia focuses on one style of music.
“While we do have artists who specialize in electronic, dance, reggae, rock and pop music,” Bordegon said. “Dancefestopia has all fun, uplifting type of dance music that makes you feel good, celebratory and it is really going to draw people who love going out and listening to music.”
When it came to pick the artists who are going to perform at the upcoming dance festival, Kevin Bordegon stated that they looked for artists who could keep Dancefestopia’s attendees going but also searched for performers who had two things in common.
“We looked at the most artists that are popular right now in the young professional demographic and we took a look at who had not been in Kansas City,” said Kevin Bordegon.
After speaking to the performers’ agents and confirming their appearance at the festival, the next thing on the brothers’ agenda was to find the perfect location for Dancefestopia, which after a long search was Richard L. Berkley Park.
“It is a stunning location,” Doug Bordegon stated. “The park is small and feels communal. While it will feel crowded, there’s plenty of acreage for parking and will fit over 50-thousand people while showcasing Kansas City’s greatest assets.”
If Dancefestopia customers went to the event’s Website earlier, they would have easily bought a weekend pass for $49 but the price continues to increase as the festival gets closer.
“The prices were selected to be very market competitive and for a two-day festival, we are the cheapest if not one of the least expensive music festivals in the country with the caliber of talent to offer for the concertgoer.” Kevin Bordegon said.
Dancefestopia will offer concertgoers a relaxing experience, which includes convenient parking from the stage, easy access in or out of the festival, a camping pass and lot of other options. Doug Bordegon hopes that these options will entice people to attend the festival.
“We want festival goers to go to Dancefestopia not worry about getting ripped off,” Bordegon said. “Have a great time. The music is constant, there are two stages and you are guaranteed to see your favorite artist take the stage.”
Dancefestopia will take place this upcoming weekend: June 1 and June 2.
