After Hope Solo’s departure from the ABC competitive ballroom dancing competition on Tuesday, Ricki Lake, J.R. Martinez and Rob Kardashian are the final three celebrities left standing in the competition. If Kardashian perfects his final unlearned dance, Freestyle, Instant Dance and his Favorite Dance of the Season and rallies the entire Kardashian Family Twitter Followers to vote for him, he will be the first Kardashian to win a reality competition and pro partner Cheryl Burke will bring home her third Mirror Ball Trophy.
Why Rob Will Not Win: There are two factors that would cause Kardashian to lose the competition and take home either one of the latter two places. One factor could be that he injures himself during rehearsal like fellow competitor J.R. Martinez. The second factor that Rob could not win is by association. A “No More Kardashian” (which is asking E! to cancel the family’s reality show) petition that is on GoPetition.com is gaining ground by collecting nearly 76,000 signatures. Could those people organize a “Do Not Vote for Rob Kardashian to win Dancing with the Stars” group? Viewers will have to tune in to find out.
Ricki Lake and Derek Hough
One of the most consistent couples of Season 13 is Ricki and Derek. They have made it to the top of the Judges’ Leaderboard six different times this season. Their best dance of the season is their Samba from last Monday where they scored their first 30 of the season. Their worst dance of the season was their very first dance: the Viennese Waltz that earned them 20 out of 30 possible points.
Why Ricki Will Win: Since Chynna Phillips’ early departure from the show, Ricki has been the strongest female left standing in the competition. She does not give up no matter what and perseveres through the pain to find dance glory. If Ricki continues to remain on top of the Judges’ Leaderboard and secure enough votes, she will take home the Mirror Ball trophy and her partner Derek will break the Dancing with the Stars franchise record with four professional wins.
Why Ricki Will Not Win: Some people say that attitude is everything. While Ricki is a great dancer with a phenomenal professional partner, she whines and complains. No one likes a whiner. If this author had a chance to meet Ricki and Derek, I would said: “Stop whining and get back to dancing!” Another reason that she could not take home the Mirror Ball Trophy is that her fans do not pick up the phone to vote.
J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff
The strongest male celebrity this season is former All My Children actor and Army Veteran J.R. Martinez. Together with his partner, Karina Smirnoff, Martinez has performed memorable routines this season and was on top of the Judges’ Leaderboard four different times. His best week during this season was last week when he scored two perfect scores back-to-back for his Waltz and second Jive. His lowest scoring dances were his first attempt at the Jive and his Viennese Waltz.
Why J.R. Will Win: J.R. is one of the best dancers left in the competition and has performed dances that received roars of affection from not only the ballroom but to the home viewers. In addition to his dancing skills, Martinez brings two different fan bases: the Soap Opera and Armed Forces Veterans with him. If he can overcome his injury, dance to perfection on the last two nights of competition and rally his fan bases to vote for them, we may see the first time both a U.S. Army Veteran and Karina Smirnoff take home matching Mirror Ball trophies.
Why J.R. Will Not Win: There is one possible reason why J.R. Martinez will not walk away with the Mirror Ball trophy next Tuesday night: his injury. During his rehearsal last week, J.R. sprained his ankle and was in severe pain during his dances on Monday. If his injury keeps getting worse, Martinez may have to bow out of the competition.
