As thousands of fans start counting down to the San Diego Comic Con, both DC Comics and Marvel released vital information for the months to come that shook fans’ minds.

In this two-part series, I will break down the announcements and what they mean for comic lovers and for each company.    Today, I will start with DC Comics’ big announcements.

The Return of the Joker: After a year away from the DC Universe, the Clown Prince of Crime will finally make his reappearance in October’s Batman issue 13.   The last time readers saw the Joker; his face had been cut off by the Dollmaker at the end of the first issue of the relaunched Detective Comics.    The Joker will bring a whole bunch of chaos to the Batman Family and Gotham City in a storyline written by Scott Snyder and drawn by Greg Capullo with inks by Jonathan Glapion.

Green Lantern-Rise of the Third Army: Since the New 52 Relaunch, the Guardians of the Universe have been hatching plans to do away with the Green Lantern Corps and build a new army.   This crossover will bring all four Green Lantern titles together as multiple Lanterns and their other corps must take down the Guardians and their new army.

New Origin, Old Enemies Collide in Flash: The comic book Web site: Newsarama.com broke an exclusive story that stated that they will be plenty of changes coming to Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato’s Flash.    Readers will have a chance to read Barry Allen’s new origin and a chance to see the debuts of New 52’s Heat Wave and Glider.  Finally, Buccellato stated at the end of the interview that War would be coming to Central City.

When Kate Met Diana: One of the hottest titles in DC Comics’ line-up is Batwoman. In October, the fans will go nuts when Batwoman teams up with DC’s favorite Amazon: Wonder Woman in a dangerous team-up.  J.H. Williams III, who co-writes the title with W. Haden Blackman, will provide the artwork for the issue.

Layman, Fabok take over Detective: DC Comics announced today that new creative team of writer John Layman (CHEW) and artist Jason Fabok (Batman Annual) will take over DC’s flagship title: Detective Comics starting with issue 13.
