In another shocking elimination last night, America sent home Paige Thomas while the judges were forced the make the most difficult elimination of the season to save either Vino Alan or Diamond White and voted to eliminate Alan from the competition.
Now that we are in the final weeks of The X Factor USA’s second season, this author is going to size up the remaining competitors and who I think might make to the finale and who should be packing their bags after next week’s performance show.
1. Carly Rose Sonenclar
13-year-old Westchester, New York native stole the hearts of millions after she delivered a powerful rendition of Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good.” Since then, Britney’s little diva has delivered one powerful performance after another and has secured both the top two spots since the beginning of the competition. If she keeps going, Carly will have a spot in this year’s finale.
Best Performances: “Feeling Good,” “My Heart Will Go On” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”
2. Tate Stevens
Belton, Missouri’s favorite son and L.A. Reid’s last remaining Over 25 has delivered strong performances and like Carly, he has never placed outside of the Top Two. In order for him to stay on for the remainder of the competition, he and L.A. need to pick songs that really let him shine, which will rally his fan base to vote him into both the quarter- and semi-finals.
Best Performances: “Wanted: Dead or Alive,”” “From This Moment On” and “Somebody Like You.”
3. Diamond White
Diamond White should have never been up for elimination because she is one of the greatest vocalists left in the competition. She has delivered more impressive performances than the latter half of the list combined. In order to claw her way back to the top and make it to the finale, Britney and Diamond need to take more risks that not only complement the theme of the week but also showcase her impressive vocals.
Best Performances: “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word,” “I Have Nothing” and “Because You Loved Me”
4. Fifth Harmony
Simon’s girl group has made some incredible progress in the past couple of weeks but when they sang “Stronger” this week, they were singing in unison instead of showcasing beautiful five-part harmonies. In order for them to make to the semi-finals, Fifth Harmony and Simon need to come up with a game plan in order for them to come back in this race.
Best Performances: “Skyscraper,” “Hero” and “I’ll Stand By You.”
5. CeCe Frey
CeCe is starting to gain momentum but it could be too little too late. Fans are ready exhausted of her and have been posting lots of complaints on her on X Factor’s YouTube channel. However, I strongly believe that if CeCe and Demi could return the former postal worker to her Kansas City days, then she will have a chance to make it to the semi-finals.
Best performances: “Ain’t No Other Man,” “Wind Beneath My Wings” and “Lady Marmalade.”
6. Emblem3
Emblem3 are the worst performers in the competition and they are Sanjayas that should have not have made it this far in this season to begin with. My advice to these arrogant, snobby and rude brats is to pack a suitcase and drive back to Huntington Beach, California where they belong.
