Jake’s Take Podcast: Singer-Songwriter Kate Schutt

By: Jacob Elyachar, jakes-take.com

It is a pleasure to welcome singer-songwriter Kate Schutt, to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.

Kate is an award-winning songwriter, singer, guitarist, and produce whose voice NPR calls “glassily clear and glossily sweet.” Her songs have won top honors from ASCAP and the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Also, Kate shared stages with several of her heroes, including Bernard Perdie, Julian Lange, Scott Colley, and Terri Lynn Carrington.

Recently, Kate Schutt released her latest music project: Bright Nowhere. Produced by legendary producer and arranger Rob Mounsey, the album follows Kate’s journey as she dealt with her mother’s diagnosis and death from ovarian cancer. She spent five years as her mom’s primary caregiver and used that time to write songs about life and loss. In November 2018, Kate talked about dealing with these emotions as “a grief casserole” in a moving TED talk at the Westchester, Pennsylvania chapter.

In this edition of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Kate opens up about several songs on Bright Nowhere and talks about her book: The Ultimate Guide to Songwriting.
