It is a pleasure to welcome Long Shot Leaders Podcast host Michael Stein to the Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.
Throughout his life, Michael conquered countless obstacles in his way through his entrepreneurial spirit. From becoming a fitness trainer at 16-years-old and starting stand-up comedy at 19-years-old to promoting nightclubs for the “young Hollywood scene” at 20-years-old, Michael’s life could be considered worthy of becoming a TV series or feature film.
At the age of 33-years-old, Michael had $13 in his bank account and $3,000 in debt; he started Abadak, a business selling tarps. Despite not knowing a thing about selling the product, the company became a multi-million dollar business one year later. When he was 36-years-old, Michael launched “Tarp-Aid,” which has donated thousands of tarps to the homeless population and people in need.
While Abadak made over $100 million, Michael’s love for show business has not waned away. He wrote, produced, and directed a 30-minute dramatic short film: Rituals and Resolutions. The film won many festival awards and was acquired and distributed by HBO Films. He also wrote, produced, directed, and starred in Love Hollywood Style. The film’s cast included Oscar-winning actress Faye Dunaway, Andy Dick, Coolio, and Stephen Tobolowsky.
In this episode of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Michael Stein spoke about organizing Batman 1989’s large promotional movie event and the Long Shot Leaders Podcast’s origin story. He also spoke about his conversations with six-time Emmy-winning actor and writer Bruce Vilanch, jewelry designer Erica Anenberg, and John Lee Dumas, the host of the Entrepreneurs on Fire Podcast.
