It is a pleasure to welcome actress and author Naomi McDougall Jones to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.
She wrote, produced, and starred in the 2014 indie feature film: Imagine I’m Beautiful. The film took home 12 awards on the film festival circuit, including four Best Picture Awards and three Best Actresses for Naomi. She also received the 2014 Don Award for the Best Independently Produced Screenplay for Imagine I’m Beautiful.
Recently, Naomi released her first book: The Wrong Kind of Women: Inside Our Revolution to Dismantle the Gods of Hollywood. It debuted as the number one new release on Amazon in the Entertainment Industry category. Actress Rose McGowan stated, “We need truth. The curtain must be pulled back, and Naomi McDougall Jones has done just that.” The Wrong Kind of Women: Inside Our Revolution to Dismantle the Gods of Hollywood appeared on multiple media outlets such as The Atlantic, BBC, Ms. Magazine, NPR, Playboy, Publishers Weekly, and The Washington Post.
She also teamed up with Lois Scott, the former Chief Financial Officer of the City of Chicago, and founded the 51 Fund. The 51 Fund’s mission is to give women an equal voice in the entertainment industry, and it is a private equity fund granted to women filmmakers to produce, write, and/or direct feature films of any genre.
