It is a pleasure to welcome comedian and scam hunter Ryan Kelly to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.
Ryan is gifted with a photographic memory and graduated high school at just 15 years old. After graduating college and earning his master’s degree in Homeland Security, Ryan moved to Los Angeles to pursue comedy and stand-up full-time. He studied improv at legendary comedy schools, including Groundlings, Second City, Upright Citizens Brigade, and iO. He secured a job as ‘Spider-Man’s friend’ at the Disneyland Resort during that time.
When he is not performing comedy, Ryan Kelly puts his master’s degree to work, finding and stopping online scams. Ryan was once scammed online and lost $712.50. On the same day he lost that money, Ryan gathered the scammer’s information and reported it to his local FBI office.
He posted the story online and was overwhelmed by the enormous number of comments from people who had been scammed similarly. In the end, Ryan got his money back and started to post more about hunting scammers online, empathizing with followers who have also fallen victim to being scammed and how to prevent being taken advantage of online.
