Last night, The Voice: Season Five Top Six were revealed!
Here are my thoughts on who might make the finale and who should be sent home next week.
1. Matthew Schuler (Team Christina)
Since his impeccable Blind Audition (all four chairs turned 12 seconds into the audition), many fans have already handed out the crown to Team Xtina’s resident Indie rocker! But his Voice run was nearly cut short last night until America saved him with the Live Tweet! I think he will use this save as a wake-up call and he and Xtina could mount a comeback performance that could send a “Wrecking Ball” through the competition.
2. Will Champlin (Team Adam)
If there was an artist that could properly challenge Matthew for this season’s crown and sash, it would be Will Champlin! He has gone toe-to-toe with some of this season’s strongest voices and has walked away more determined to win this season. Need to proof…re-watch “Demons,” “Secrets” and the tour-de-force performance known as “At Last!” I strongly believe that Will and Matthew will be the final two artists standing at this year’s finale!
3. Tessanne Chin (Team Adam)
The dynamite Jamaican beauty is a force to be reckoned with in the competition. Tessanne is a vocal dynamo that could (or potentially will) secure the Juliet Simms and Cassadee Pope spot as the last girl standing in this season’s finale. But with Matthew preparing a comeback and both Will and Cole’s sudden resurgence in the competition, is too late for her to stage her bid for The Voice: Season Five championship? It will all depend on her song choice.
4. Cole Vosbury (Team Blake)
If there is a Final Four this season, Cole Vosbury could grab the final spot! Since his outstanding Blind Audition (where he surprised everyone with his interpretation of The Jeffersons’ theme song), Cole continues to spin out superb covers that have made him a fan-favorite. In order to grab a spot, Cole needs to perform a song like “Let Her Go,” if he does that…watch out Matthew and Will!
5. Jacquie Lee (Team Christina)
The youngest member of the competition has had a roller coaster of a season. She started off with several high notes that included her show-stopping performances of “I Put A Spell On You” and “Love Is Blindness.” But lately…. she has been screeching! Jacquie is still young but she is no Jessica Sanchez, Jackie Evancho or Carly Rose Sonenclair and I think her journey will end next week!
6. James Wolpert (Team Adam)
I DON’T KNOW WHAT AMERICA SEES IN JAMES! He is plain and one-dimensional as it comes! While he did impress me with “Somebody to Love,” I don’t think he will be joining vocal powerhouses Adam Lambert or Season Two’s Tony Vincent in the TV stars that sang with Queen slot anytime soon! He needs to go home immediately and not collect $200! If James goes into the finale…I will echo Ms. Jennifer Hudson’s statement from her first appearance on Letterman: “America, what the hell is wrong with you?”
“The Voice” airs Monday and Tuesday on NBC!
