Secret Empire crosses over into the Marvel Universe
It has been revealed that Steve Rogers has become an Agent of HYDRA! Now, the villainous Captain America will reveal his wicked plan in a nine-part miniseries: Secret Empire. While writer Nick Spencer and artists Andrea Sorrentino and Steve McNiven will handle the main story, Steve Rogers’ actions will spill across multiple Marvel titles including Captain America: Steve Rogers, Captain America: Sam Wilson, Deadpool, Doctor Strange, The Mighty Captain Marvel, Ultimates 2, and U.S. Avengers. The maxi-series’ first issue will drop on May 10.
Secret Warriors returns
One of Marvel’s best teams returns to action! When Captain America shows his true colors, SHIELD Agent Daisy “Quake” Johnson is forced to go underground and restart the Secret Warriors. The line-up features her fellow Inhumans including Ms. Marvel, Karnak, Inferno, Moon Girl, and Devil Dinosaur as they vow to protect their race from Captain America and HYDRA. Writer Matthew Rosenberg and artist Javier Garron will tell the story of this new group in a twice-monthly series starting on May 10.
A plethora of number ones
May is shaping up to be a major month for Marvel Comics. Several new series will drop their very first issue. Among the characters that are getting their solo titles include Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Jean Grey, Cable, Black Bolt, and Luke Cage. Some of Marvel’s hottest new batch of creators will weave new tales on some of the House of Ideas’ beloved characters. Here are some of the following series that will be dropping this month:

All-New Guardians of the Galaxy returns to space
The Guardians of the Galaxy will begin a new era in May! All-New Guardians of the Galaxy will show Star-Lord, Groot, Rocket, Drax the Destroyer, and Gamora back in space. However, the quintet has plenty of personal issues to deal with, the Nova Corps, and a war between two of the galaxy’s greatest omnipotent beings: The Collector and the Grandmaster! The new creative team of writer Gerry Duggan and artist Aaron Kuder will usher in a brand-new era starting on May 3.
Venom celebrates 30 years with issue 150
The scary symbiote is turning 30-years-old on May 24! Marvel is celebrating the Spider-Man nemesis’ birthday with Venom #150. An all-star group of writers (Mike Costa, Robbie Thompson, and Venom co-creator David Michelinie) and artists (Tradd Moore, Gerardo Sandoval, and Ron Lim) will look back on the villain’s history in three brand new stories including the reason why former host Flash Thompson lost the symbiote. Plus, we will look into the future of the symbiote’s reunion with its legendary host: Eddie Brock!
Jason Aaron’s final Doctor Strange issue
Veteran writer Jason Aaron will end his epic run on Doctor Strange on May 17. Over the past three story arcs, The Mighty Thor writer gave the Sorcerer Supreme difficult challenges to overcome such as the near extinction of magic and introduced deadly adversaries such as Mr. Misery and the Emprikiul. Issue 20 will feature an all-out brawl between Strange and several of his adversaries such as Baron Mordo, Dormammu, and Mr. Misery. Some of Jason Aaron’s longtime artists such as Chris Bachalo and Kevin Nowlan will provide the artwork for this epic story.
