Blues rocker Hamish Anderson traveled to New York City’s Rockwood Music Hall as a part of his East Coast tour. A plethora of fans of all ages crowded into the Lower East Side performance venue as the “Trouble” singer-songwriter entertained through eight songs. Joining Hamish on the stage were bassist Lauren Stockner and drummer Curran McDowell. Between Lauren’s spunky bass guitar licks and Curran’s impeccable drumming, these two musicians helped Hamish deliver a cohesive sound that would cement their upward trajectory in the recording industry.
Throughout the evening, Hamish showcased his outstanding guitar licks that reminded me of when I saw Eric Clapton in Oklahoma City’s Chesapeake Energy Arena in 2013. While Hamish rarely moved around the stage, he was surrounded with the swagger that reminded me of a combination of Mick Jagger and Lindsey Buckingham.
Final thoughts & grade: Through eight songs, Hamish Anderson showcased why he is one of the millennial generation’s masters of the Blues. His impeccable guitar playing and superb vocals will hopefully hypnotize music lovers for years to come. A-
