Artists to Watch
Jake’s Take’s Artists to Watch is back! Here are the recording artists that could dominate the music industry.
Hollywood Gold EP by Parker McCollum
Up-and-coming country music star Parker McCollum dropped his first extended play as an MCA Nashville-signed artist. Hollywood Gold showcases the promise of an up-and-coming country music star. Fans of the genre could sandwich Parker’s vocals between the bro-country and country-pop. “Young Man’s Blues,” “Pretty Heart,” and “Hold Me Back” have the potential to dominate the charts and pick up a few CMAs along the way. “Empty Eyes” by Benny Freestyles featuring MOD SUN
Providence, Rhode Island native Benny Freestyles is building up a social media presence with his unique beats. He dropped a collaboration, “Empty Eyes,” with fellow rapper MOD SUN. Benny’s raspy raps immediately took me in, and it meshed well with MOD SUN’s vocals. If Benny Freestyles continues to produce quality tracks like “Empty Eyes,” he could find his ways onto several streaming services and radio stations’ playlists. B/B+
“Witch of LA” by Camie Llano
I have one word to describe Camie Llano’s “Witch of LA”: Fabulous! This tune is not only perfect for Halloween, but Camie’s enchanting vocals would hypnotize listeners. I cannot wait for the next single that she drops. A-
“Running Away from Home” by Eddie Benjamin
Epic Records has been on a roll with the new artists that they have discovered. One recording artist that stands out in their line-up is Eddie Benjamin. His unforgettable songs such as “F—My Friends” and “Speechless” caught the attention of world-renowned recording artists such as Justin Bieber, Labrinth, and Sia. “Running Away From Home” is a dream-pop, synthesizer-heavy track that would make listeners dance in their seats. I am looking forward to hearing more music from Eddie in the future. A
“Can’t Let You Go” by Stefflon Don
Stefflon Don rounds out this edition of Jake’s Take’s New Music Reviews. The England-based singer-rapper dropped her new single: “Can’t Let You Go.” It is a fantastic song that combines Hip-hop, R&B, and reggae. After collaborations with Luis Fonsi, Mariah Carey, and Ne-Yo, Stefflon Don continues to be force to be reckoned with and I cannot wait to see what she does next. A-
