It is a pleasure to welcome David “Da Cake Ninja” Wright to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.
David Wright is one of the Ninja Warrior community’s rising stars after making his debut in American Ninja Warrior: Season 11. The cake-loving ninja surprised the Oklahoma City (OKC) audience as David blazed through the OKC City Qualifiers, became the night’s first finisher, and placed seventh in the Top 30 competitors. David Wright then faced off against the OKC City Finals, which included the Crazy Clocks, Snap Back, and the Spider Trap, and became one of the only five ninjas to clear the course. While he made it to the show’s legendary Las Vegas finals, Mount Midoriyama, David’s dreams of Ninja Warrior glory were dashed when he fell off Stage One’s Tire Run.
David returned to compete on his sophomore season on American Ninja Warrior: Season 12 as he was one of the 50 ninjas the show picked as a team captain. The Houston, Texas native picked rookie Amir Malik and veteran Alex Carson to fill out his team. All three members cleared the quarterfinals course and grabbed three spots on the Top 12 competitors’ leaderboard. Sadly, David and Amir had to say farewell to Alex as they were the only two members of their team to make it to the Top 12 Semifinals Leaderboard. Unfortunately, David Wright’s second season came to an end during the first round of the Season 12 finals when he fell off the Falling Shelves obstacle.
Outside of American Ninja Warrior, David Wright is a lifeguard, swim instructor, ninja coach, and cake enthusiast. In this edition of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, David talked about both of his appearances on NBC’s long-running summer reality TV competition. Also, he revealed if he is interested in competing on other shows such as Big Brother, The Challenge, or The Titan Games.
