It is a pleasure to welcome singer, songwriter, and guitarist Kyle Daniel to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.
Kyle Daniel’s music is a unique blend of classic Southern rock and modern country, a fusion that appeals to a wide range of music lovers. His blue-collar sound resonates in rock clubs, honky-tonks, and everywhere in between. At the heart of this distinctive sound is a guitar hero, storyteller, and songwriter who has earned his audience the old-school way: by touring relentlessly, from dive bars in Tennessee to the Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London, and hitting key UK festivals along the way.
Kyle, a native of Bowling Green, Kentucky, began his musical journey at a young age, playing in bars before he could legally drink. His passion for music was undeniable, as he followed in his parents’ footsteps to become a skilled guitarist. His early success, winning the Kentucky Blues Challenge at 17 and placing in the finals at the International Blues Challenge at 18, was just the beginning of his inspiring journey.
Later, Kyle began writing songs that showcased not only his fiery fretwork but also his songwriting chops and vocals. His debut EP, Kyle Daniel, was recorded in a single day and released independently in 2018. Even without a label’s help, the self-titled record found critical acclaim, with Rolling Stone praising it for mixing “the gravely twang of Steve Earle with Chris Stapleton’s range, plus bigger hooks.” After spending several years as a sideman for other artists, Daniel finally claimed his share of the spotlight, brewing up his melting pot of hard-hitting American roots music.
On this edition of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Kyle Daniel spoke about his lessons from Anderson East, Bob Seger, and Brandy Clark and his debut album, Kentucky Gold.
