It is a privilege to welcome the fabulous Lonita Cook to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.

Lonita is a creative producer, film critic, and arts advocate who creates narrative content such as movies and series focusing on midlife coming-of-age tales and watching movies and series of all sorts and chats about them for television advocates. She also contributes to Kansas City’s KCTV5’s My KC Live and Des Moines’ Hello Iowa with memberships in the Critics’ Choice Association, the world’s largest professional collective of critics. She serves on the Kansas City Film Critics Circle, the United States’s second-oldest critics group.

Lonita Cook also helps make artists and filmmakers’ dreams come true. Over the years, she served arts organizations, including Johnson County Arts + Heritage Museum Foundations and Friends, as the President and volunteered for 13 years at the Sundance Film Festival. She also currently serves on the Johnson County Arts Council Advisory, Johnson County Park + Recreation, and ArtsKC Advocacy Committee and works as a field consultant for the Kansas Department of Commerce Creative Arts Industries. As a field consultant, Lonita helps support arts non-profit organizations and develop films for the state.

She is also the co-host, co-executive producer, and co-creator of Kansas City PBS’s Get Lost! Get Lost stars Lonita and Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar friend and Emmy-winning journalist Michael Mackie as they travel across the Midwest, introducing viewers to the region’s gems.
