America’s Got Talent (AGT): Season 16 is back at the Dolby Theatre! As we enter the second week of Live Performances, more acts are waiting in the wings to secure the show’s iconic prize of $1 million and a headline show in Las Vegas. Among those acts that are waiting to perform for America’s votes was singer Brooke Simpson.
Many Reality TV veterans might have recognized Brooke from her time on The Voice. In 2017, she auditioned for the NBC singing competition’s thirteenth season, where her interpretation of Demi Lovato’s “Stone Cold” caught the attention of all four coaches (Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Jennifer Hudson, and Miley Cyrus). She decided to enlist in Team Miley, and her performances lead her to Season 13 finale night, where Brooke placed third in the competition.
Four years after her time on The Voice, Brooke Simpson auditioned on the Pasadena Civic Center stage for AGT: Season 16. Before she performed, Brooke revealed to the judges her aspirations of becoming the first indigenous pop star. As her husband accompanied her on the piano, Brooke Simpson delivered a fantastic cover of Lizzo’s “Cuz I Luv You” that received tons of praise from judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Howie Mandel, and Heidi Klum.
In this special edition of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Brooke revisited her audition and her reaction when Simon himself compared her to two legendary American Idol champions.
