Over the past two nights, our American Idol XIII judges (Harry Connick, Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban) picked the best in undiscovered talent.

While there were several strong girls in the competition (Majesty Rose, Jessica Meuse and MK Nobilette), it seems like this year for the men (like Caleb Johnson, Alex Preston and C.J. Harris) to grab the Idol crown.

So whom did the country vote through to the Top 10? Which artist received a second chance courtesy of the judges as a Wild Card?  Read on to find out…

For the first 13 minutes, Seacrest kept it professional and did not leave us in limbo and revealed the first eight contestants that made through based on America’s votes. The first four girls to make it to the Top 13 were Malaya Watson, Emily Piriz, Jessica Meuse and Majesty Rose.  Meanwhile, Ben Briley, Alex Preston, Caleb Johnson and Dexter Roberts rounded out the first four male spots of the Top 13.

The last two spots into the Top 10 belonged to MK Nobilette (whose parents brought at a larger sign this time around) and fan-favorite Sam Woolf.  For the remaining contestants, they were hoping and praying to receive the command from the judges to sing for their lives!

Frontrunner C.J. Harris failed to meet the judges’ expectations with Sam Cooke’s “Bring It On Home To Me” as Harry said that either the band or C.J. screwed up the beginning.  (Grade: C).  Jena Irene Asciutto was the first girl to get called to sing for her life.  Her vocals on the reprisal of her original song were stunning and showed that she had potential outside the industry. (Grade: A-)

Jennifer called Spencer Lloyd to sing for his life! I think it was a waste of time, the wrong person and it was the worst time to bring out his original song: “Ordinary Girl.” (Grade: D). While I was a little disappointed that Bria Anai sang for her life, she redeemed herself with her intriguing cover of “It’s A Man’s World.” However, it did not give me “goosies” as Joshua Ledet or Juliet Simms’ covers. (Grade: B).

The final contestant to receive a second chance from the judges was Kristen O’ Conner. While it was not the person, I would necessarily picked for the sing-off (that would have been Malcolm Allen or Briana Oakley), she redeemed herself and proved her worth as a Wild Card candidate with her cover of Katy Perry’s “Unconditionally.” (Grade: A-)

After the judges deliberated during the final commercial break of the night, they decided that Jena Irene Asciutto, Kristen O’ Conner and C.J. Harris would round out the Top 13!

Next week, the real game begins as the Top 13 compete for your votes!
