Masked Singer: Season 11’s third episode introduced Group C! This new group of undercover celebrities paid homage to the legendary Billy Joel. Clock, Lizard, Poodle Moth, and Spaghetti and Meatballs sang their favorite songs from the “We Didn’t Start the Fire” singer-songwriter’s lengthy song catalog. Which masked performers delivered epic performances? Who had to unmask and join Kevin Hart and Savannah Chrisley in the Season 11 elimination club? Did the panelists (Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Robin Thicke, and Rita Ora) correctly deduce the eliminated performer’s true identity?
Read on to find out!
Robin Thicke started the evening with an R&B-infused version of “My Life.” As he hugged Nick and rejoined his fellow panelists, the Poodle Moth entered the Masked Singer stage to “She’s Always a Woman.” Her pre-performance package clues included the moon, a cowboy hat, and a book with the American flag. She sang “Just the Way You Are,” and her performance gave me chills. I thought it was Wynonna. Rita loved her voice and called it “an unbelievable performance.” The Men in Black gave the panelists a baseball that had the Grand Ole Opry on it. Robin thought it was Trisha Yearwood, while Rita guessed Wynonna Judd. Ken added Rita Wilson into the mix.
The Men in Black escorted the elegant Clock Mask to the stage to Billy Joel’s “The Longest Time.” Her pre-performance package clues included a piano, a disco ball, a baby, a Golden Globe, and performed for a President. She sang “Piano Man,” and I guessed the legendary Thelma Houston. Jenny declared that the other performers should be scared of Clock Mask. The Man in Black played “Vienna” for the clue, and Clock stated that she had a date in her name. Jenny thought it was Anita Baker, while Robin guessed Evelyn Champagne King. Ken predicted that Diana Ross was behind the Clock Mask. He pointed out that Ms. Ross has a Golden Globe Award (as there was a Golden Globe in the pre-performance package), while Rita broke into “Baby Love” after pointing out a baby in the pre-performance package.
Spaghetti and Meatballs Mask made his Masked Singer debut. He walked out to “We Didn’t Start the Fire.” His pre-performance package contained the following clues: a chef’s hat, “Banca,” and a sports car. He sang “Only the Good Die and Young, ” which sounded incredible. With the Italian flags flashing across the studio’s screen and the performer handing Rita a Masked Singer menu, it might be a TV chef, possibly Buddy Valastro. His clue was a giant pizza that said “Show Time.” Rita also followed the clues and connected them to someone from the UK and stars in Masterchef: Chef Gordon Ramsey. Jenny suggested that Guy Fieri and Robin add Stanley Tucci to the mix.
The Lizard Mask slithered onto the stage with a bunch of energy, and “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me” was blaring. His clues contained an auto shop, a race car, a TV, a heart-shaped lollipop, and a crab. He sang “Uptown Girl” and showcased humor in the performance. For the first time tonight, I did not know who this performer was. A mini yellow taxi delivered a clue that mentioned “Billboard.” Ken guessed Michael Bivins, while Jenny suggested Ralph Tresvant, and Robin added Ray J into the mix.
The panel and the studio audience voted to send Spaghetti and Meatballs and Lizard Masks into the smackdown. Spaghetti and Meatballs sang “Movin’ Out” as it featured several fabulous high notes, while Lizard Mask brought a “Beat It” vibe. However, the panel had the final say and elected to send Lizard to the next round. Meanwhile, we had to say “goodbye” to Spaghetti and Meatballs Mask. Robin stood by his Stanley Tucci guess, while Jenny doubled down on her Guy Fieri guess. Rita also stood by her Gordon Ramsey guess and Ken added Bobby Flay into the mix.
