The Wild Cards are changing up The Masked Singer! Last week, the Orca made their impressive debut and knocked the Raccoon out of the Season Five competition.
Tonight, Group B (Black Swan, Chameleon, Grandpa Monster, and Piglet) met their first Wild Card performer. Did any of them suffer the same fate as the Raccoon and was forced to unmask? Who joined Danny Trejo, Caitlyn Jenner, and Kermit the Frog in the Season Five elimination club? Plus, what clues did Cluedle-Doo give out? Did any of The Masked Singer panelists (Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke, and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg) correctly deduce the eliminated performer’s true identity? Read on to find out!
After guest host Niecy Nash made her entrance, it was time to get down to business. Grandpa Monster headed to The Masked Singer stage. In his pre-performance package, there was a forest and headphones. He also ripped a photo of Piglet and sang “Bad Reputation.” This song was perfect for Logan Paul. As a devoted listener of his podcast, Impaulsive, I knew that voice anywhere because I interviewed him once in Kansas City. The performance was fun, and his choreography was outstanding. Grandpa Monster’s first crush was The Rock! Ken Jeong guessed Kevin Hart, while Robin thought it was Jack Black. Meanwhile, Nicole thought it was Jake Paul.
Cluedle-Doo revealed that there was a rivalry between Piglet and Grandpa Monster. Piglet returned to The Masked Singer stage and he said that he had a past with football and possibly Ohio. He sang Andy Grammer’s “Good To Be Alive (Hallelujah),” and I knew from the first note that it was Nick Lachey! Robin declared that Piglet gave a game-changing performance. His childhood crush was Meg Ryan. Ken thought it was *NSYNC’s JC Chasez, while Nicole guessed Austin Mahone. Meanwhile, Jenny guessed Jonathan Knight.
Masked Singer: Season Five frontrunner Black Swan returned to the stage. She dedicated this performance to a love and six cents. She performed Shawn Mendes’ “In My Blood,” and I immediately thought of Jessie J. Ken declared that Black Swan had the most robust spirit out of all of her competitors. Black Swan’s first crush was D’Angelo. Nicole guessed fellow X Factor judge Demi Lovato, while Ken thought it was Lindsay Lohan. However, Robin thought it was Ashlee Simpson.
Before the first Group B Wild Card took to the stage, Chameleon performed. There were hints of fashion, peaches, and the LGBT pride flag paintbrush in his pre-performance package. He performed 50 Cent and Nate Dogg’s “21 Questions,” and I believe that the masked performer is Wiz Khalifa. Niecy loved the way that he commanded The Masked Singer stage. His first crush was Salma Hayek. Nicole guessed Dwayne Wade, while Jenny thought it was 2 Chainz.
Finally, the Crab made his Masked Singer debut as the Group B wild card. I loved the Zorro mustache. In his pre-performance package, he spoke of tragedy, broken mirrors, a calculator that said “2 + 3,” and the Mona Lisa. Tonight, he sang “Ain’t No Sunshine,” and I got chills. I believe that Crab is Bobby Brown, and he is singing this song in honor of Whitney, Bobbi Kristina, and his recently departed son, Bobby Junior. After the panelists made their first impression guesses, the Crab revealed that his first crush was Janet Jackson. Ken guessed Lenny Kravitz and then Bobby Brown. Robin thought of Bobby’s fellow New Edition group member: Johnny Gill.
Once again, the Wild Card eliminated an established performer from the competition! Tonight, Grandpa Monster had to say “Goodbye.” Robin stood by his original guess of Johnny Manzel, Jenny exchanged her “Off the Wall” guess of Morgan Freeman to The Challenge and wrestling icon the Miz. Ken thought it was Kevin Hart, while Nicole threw out her guess of Cam Newton. She chose Jake Paul!
Nicole was close..but she chose the wrong Paul Brother…GRANDPA MONSTER was LOGAN PAUL! I’m three for three!
