The Masked Singer: Season 12’s Group C FINALLY made their debuts!
Ice King, Macaron, Royal Knight, Sherlock Hound, and Strawberry Shortcake stepped onto the stage. Like Groups A and B, Masked Ambassadors have endorsed their entrances into the competition. Tonight, the quintet took the stage to perform for the chance to join the Buffaloes, Goo, and Wasp in the chase for the Season 12 Golden Mask Trophy.
However, thanks to the panel using the Ding Dong Keep it On Bell on Goo, only one Group C member can advance to the Masked Singer: Season 12 quarterfinals! Which performers advanced? Which undercover celebrity was forced to unmask? Did any panelists (Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Robin Thicke, and Rita Ora) correctly deduce the eliminated singer’s true identity?
Read on to find out!
After Nick and the panel made their dramatic entrances, it was time for the “Who Are You Fest” to begin. The Royal Knight was the first Group C performer to take the Masked Singer stage. Her Masked Ambassador was Season 11’s Savannah Chrisley. The Royal Knight’s clues featured a remote, a Cinderella glass slipper, and “The T” bullhorn. She sang Lady Gaga’s “You & I” and I enjoyed her performance. Rita praised the Knight’s vocal control and called the performance “amazing.” The clues tonight were the “Merch Wall.” Her sweater had a “Ready to Sleigh” slogan. Jenny thought it was Ashley Tisdale. Rita Ora thought it was Lily James, and Robin guessed Hayden Panettiere.
Sherlock Hound made his Masked Singer debut. Season Three’s Rhino, Barry Zito, was his Masked Ambassador. His clues included a diamond record and an eye patch. He performed a robust cover of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Under the Bridge,” I initially thought I heard Chad Kroeger’s voice. But after listening to the performance, I can confidently guess that this was Darius Rucker. Sherlock Hound’s merch was a hoodie with “a number one hit.” While Ken guessed Chad Kroeger, Rita thought it was Eddie Vedder or Gavin Rossdale. Robin thought it was Incubus’ Brandon Boyd.
The Ice King was the night’s third headliner! Hanson, Season Five’s Russian Dolls, was his Masked Ambassador. His clues included a passport and a Tootsie Pop, and he got his start with Hanson. He sang Hot Chelle Rae’s “Tonight Tonight,” and I immediately thought it was Drake Bell under the mask. Jenny called him “incredible,” and Ice King’s merch had a slogan that said: “Drop the Fire Beat.” Robin thought it was Pete Wentz, while Ken guessed Joe Jonas. Jenny thought it was the polarizing Mister Beast.
Macaron made her Masked Singer debut! Willie Robertson (Season Six’s Mallard) was her Masked Ambassador. The clues included dolphins and a “The Real Macaron” film slate. She sang Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe,” and honestly, I would have buzzed her, and her performance joined Savannah Chrisley and Honey BooBoo in the worst performance category. Her swag clue was “Unstoppable Blooming All Year Long.” Ken thought it was Gypsy Rose Blanchard, but Jenny thought it was Monica Lewinsky. Robin thought it was Tom Sandoval’s ex, Ariana Madix.
Before Strawberry Shortcake debuted, Rita told Jenny she thought Soul Surfer Bethany Hamilton was Macaron Mask. The Ringmaster, Hayley Orranita, was her Masked Ambassador. She tackled Kacey Musgraves’ “Slow Burn,” I immediately thought it was Julianne Hough. She has one of the most vital voices in the competition. Robin called the performance one of the top ones of the season and the best one of the night. Strawberry Shortcake’s merch was “Make a Leg,” and she had a breakthrough role. Rita thought it was Renee Rapp, while Jenny guessed Lana Del Rey. Robin thought it was Rachel Zegler.
The Masked Singer panel and studio audience voted to send Macaron home! Robin stood by Ariana Madix, while Ken doubled down his Gypsy Rose Blanchard. Rita thought Macaron was surfer Bethany Hamilton and Jenny joined Rita in the guess. RITA & JENNY WERE RIGHT…MACARON WAS BETHANY HAMILTON!
