The Masked Singer: Season Seven – The Good, the Bad, and the Cuddly aired its final episode tonight!
Team Good (Firefly, the Prince, and Ringmaster) are the last performers standing! This trio outsang and outperformed some talented competitors such as Team Cuddly’s Miss Teddy (Jennifer Holliday) and Team Bad’s Cyclops (Jorge Garcia), Hydra (Penn and Teller), and the Queen Cobras (En Vogue). Which two performers joined their fellow Season Seven compatriots in the elimination club? Who joined T-Pain, Wayne Brady, Kandi Burruss, LeAnn Rimes, Nick Lachey, and Jewel in the Masked Singer’s Winners’ Circle? Did any of the panelists (Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke, and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg) correctly deduce the finalists’ true identities? Read on to find out!
After Nick Cannon made his final entrance of Season Seven and introduced the panel, it was time to get down for business. Round three champion The Prince kicked off the night. His clue campaign included a Glee club button, cats, a photo of Ryan Murphy, and a Broadway street sign. These clues added up to Cheyenne Jackson! Tonight, the Prince sang Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida.” It was another fantastic performance from the 30 Rock alum. Jenny “bowed to him” and loved that he belted out the song and guessed Ben Platt. Robin thought it was Ricky Martin, while Ken added Matt Bomer.
Firefly’s clue package featured the basketball and the number seven. I tuned the performance out of protest as I believed that both Miss Teddy (Jennifer Holliday) and Queen Cobras (En Vogue) should have been in the finale over her. Robin was spot on with his guess – Teyanna Taylor. Meanwhile, Nicole suggested Monica while Ken guessed Brandy.
Round Two winner Ringmaster made her triumphant return to the Masked Singer stage. Her pre-performance package featured a horse, the number 80, a mouse princess, and a photo of Simon Cowell. She sang Sara Bareilles’s “Gravity.” She delivered a stunning vocal performance that blew me away! Ken guessed Hailee Steinfeld, while Nicole thought it was Lucy Hale. Jenny ended the round with Hayden Panettiere.
After the audience and panel voted, THE PRINCE was sent home! (WTF?) Ken praised him for being one of the show’s most well-rounded singers and stood by his guess of Matt Bomer. Meanwhile, Robin doubled down his Ricky Martin guess! Jenny thought it was Ben Platt, and Nicole suggested CHEYENNE JACKSON! Nicole and I were right; CHEYENNE JACKSON WAS THE PRINCE!
It was down between Firefly and Ringmaster to determine who would take home the Golden Mask. After a blinding light show, Firefly sang Robin Thicke’s “Lost Without U.” While it was a good performance, it was not winner worthy. The “Blurred Lines” singer praised her performance, and Nick added that Firefly was very emotional.
Robin guessed Maren Morris was the Ringmaster, while Nicole thought it was Lucy Hale. Ken doubled down his guess of Hailee Steinfield, and Jenny doubled down with Hayden Panettiere. Hayley Orrantia was the Ringmaster! Hayley revealed that she auditioned for The X Factor USA’s first season as a part of Lakoda Rayne.
Robin doubled down his guess of Teyanna Taylor, and Jenny joined him while Nicole guessed Monica and Ken suggested Alicia Keys! Robin and Jenny were correct…TEYANNA TAYLOR WAS FIREFLY!
Congrats Teaynna Taylor on winning The Masked Singer: Season Seven – The Good, the Bad & The Cuddly!
