The Masked Singer: Season Eight just crowned its new champion! After weeks of theme nights, including Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber Night, Muppets Night, and Fright Night, and tons of surprising reveals (the Brady Bunch men, Gloria Gaynor, Jerry Springer, Nikki Glaser, and Ray Parker, Jr.), we are down to the Harp and the Lambs.
Did the Harp continue her domination and score the Masked Singer crown? Or did the Lambs make show history and become the first group to win the FOX singing competition? Did our panel (Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke, and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg) correctly deduce the last two celebrities’ true identities? Read on to find out!
After the Masked Singer: Season Eight clip show, it was time for the final battle! Ken stated that the Season Eight finale was the toughest in show history, while Nicole praised the Harp for holding her own all season long. The Harp performed an anthem close to her: Lady Gaga’s “The Edge of Glory.” I got chills from the first note, and once again, I stand by my original guess of Amber Riley! Jenny stated that her performance put the awards show to shame! Ken guessed Jennifer Hudson; Robin suggested Yvette Nicole Brown. Nicole thought it was initially Fantasia but changed it to Amber Riley (FINALLY!). Jenny ended the guessing round with Jordin Sparks.
The Lambs (Rose, Lilac, and Blueberry) made their debut on Muppet Night, and their beautiful harmonies have conquered the Masked Singer stage since. They performed Whitney Houston’s “I’m Every Woman” for a chance to win the Golden Mask, and the Men in Black invited Jenny and Nicole to join them. While I was bored in the first half, the A cappella portion blew me away. Once again, Ken tripled down with his Kardashian guess. Robin suggested Wilson Phillips (FINALLY!), and Nicole joined him with the guess.
The Lambs’ final performance of Masked Singer: Season Eight was a cover of “I Want to Know What Love Is.” Backed by the orchestra, Wilson Phillips – I mean the Lambs – delivered a haunting cover of the hair metal anthem. I got chills, and Nicole declared they took them on the reunion tour.
The Harp sang John Mayer’s “Gravity.” It was a massive risk as the song is pretty one-note. However, the West End alum proved me wrong as she inserted a lot of soul music and, thanks to a gospel choir, elevated the John Mayer-penned song to another level of excellence. Robin praised her for taking the song “over the moon.” Nicole declared that Harp Mask was one of the best performers ever to grace the Masked Singer stage!
The panel and the audience voted…the winner of Masked Singer: Season Eight was….THE HARP!!!!
During the Lambs’ final guesses, Ken stuck with the Kardashians. Jenny thought it was the Chicks, Robin and Nicole stood by their guesses of Wilson Phillips. Both Nicole and Robin were right, The LAMBS WERE WILSON PHILLIPS!
Robin kicked off the Harp’s final guesses with Yvette Nicole Brown. Meanwhile, Jenny stood by her guess of Jordin Sparks. Ken was still on the JHUD train. However, Nicole and I were on the same page: Amber Riley. And Nicole and I were right….AMBER RILEY WAS HARP!!!
CONGRATULATIONS AMBER RILEY ON WINNING THE GOLDEN MASK!
