Next week, three Masked Singer: Season Five performers will sing one final time to compete to join Monster (T-Pain), the Fox (Wayne Brady), Night Angel (Kandi Burruss), and the Sun (LeAnn Rimes) in the winners’ circle. Hoping to join them in the Golden Mask club are Black Swan, Chameleon, Piglet, and Yeti. Tonight, the four of them faced off for three spots in the finale.
In addition to the departing performer, we also said goodbye (or good riddance) to this season’s menacing character: Cluedle-Doo. This season, Cluedle-Doo mocked the Masked Singer panelists (Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke, and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg) and threw either valuable clues or red herrings to the viewers. Tonight, we finally learned his true identity!
Who were the Season Five finalists? Who was forced to join Kermit the Frog, Logan Paul, Tamera Mowery, and Hanson in the Season Five elimination club? Who was under the Cluedle-Doo Mask? Read on to find out!
Once host Nick Cannon made his entrance and introduced the panel, he also revealed that three-time Grammy winner Darius Rucker was the guest panelist tonight! The Yeti was the final Wild Card standing and announced that he forgave his absent father. Tonight, the Yeti sang Kool and the Gang’s “Celebration,” and he delivered an incredible vocal. Nicole loved his showmanship, and Darius called it “impressive.” The Yeti was connected to Nicole and gifted her a “Santa Monica” surfboard. Nicole guessed Marques Houston, while Ken thought Yeti was Justin Bieber. However, Darius thought Yeti was Sisqo.
Before hitting the stage, Black Swan was confronted by Cluedle-Doo. The performer’s clues included: “Hello, my name is number 1” and a maple leaf. She sang Dan + Shay’s “Tequila” and gave me chills. Ken praised the Black Swan and called her “an experience.” Black Swan is connected to Robin, and they bumped into each other at an after-party. Ken guessed Shania, Celine, Anne Murray, and even Bjork. Darius guessed Alanis Morissette, while Robin guessed Carly Rae Jepsen.
In all honesty, Chameleon should have gone home last week. I rather have seen the Russian Dolls move forward in The Masked Singer: Season Five competition over this rapper. Tonight, he performed “Oh Boy,’ and in all honesty…it was Wiz Khalifa’s worst performance yet. I wanted to buzz the performance. The Chameleon gave Darius a “snake” with Phoenix and the “Wagon Wheel” singer named Larry Hamilton. Jenny thought it was Riff Raff. However, Ken thought Chameleon was 2 Chainz.
The Piglet revealed that he had a grueling schedule but now is satisfied with being a family man. Tonight, Nick Lachey sang Lewis Capaldi’s “Bruises.” He gave me chills once again. Nicole called it his “strongest vocal performance by far.” Jenny received a poker chip from Piglet, and Jenny thought it was Drew Lachey. Ken guessed that Joel Madden was behind the mask. Meanwhile, Darius Rucker thought it was his fellow country music star: Tim McGraw.
Cluedle-Doo finally made his move. He told Nick that he is ready to reveal his identity. He sang “Return of the Mack.” The mischief-maker has the voice and the moves of a former boyband member. Ken called the performance “outstanding,” and he received a giraffe. Ken thought it was Kevin James, while Robin guessed Jamie Foxx. Nicole doubled down and guessed Jamie Foxx. However, Jenny thought it was Akon, and Darius joined Ken in assuming Kevin James.
After weeks of waiting, we finally were able to learn Cluedle-Doo’s true identity. It turned out that The Masked Singer: Season Five’s mysterious menace was Jenny’s husband: Donnie Wahlberg. Seeing her husband in the costume made the former View co-host drop to the floor in pure shock.
As the actor and singer reunited with his wife, it was time to say “Goodbye” to a performer. It turned out that the Yeti was eliminated! Holy smokes, I thought he was going to compete in the Masked Singer finale. Ken initially thought of Justin Bieber and doubled down with his first guess. Nicole changed her first impression guess with Jason Derulo to Mario. Jenny thought it was Mario, but changed it to Ne-Yo. Robin thought it was Omarion and stood by it. Meanwhile, Darius thought it was Sisqo.
Robin was right! Yeti was OMARION!
