It is hard to believe, but we have reached The Masked Singer: Season Seven Group A finals! Tonight, Cyclops, Firefly, and Thingamabob faced off for one spot in the Season Seven finale. Which meant that TWO performers were unmasked. Which celebrities were forced to join Duff Goldman and Joe Buck in the Season Seven elimination club? Who moved onto the finale? Did the panelists (Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke, and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg) correctly deduce the performers’ identities? Read on to find out!
Thingamabob was the first performer of the night. He revealed that he had a rough family background. There was a “kangaroo,” “wrecking ball,” and “ a bull” in the pre-performance package. Thingamabob sang MKTO’s “Classic” for his performance. Once again, I believe that Thingamabob is American Idol winner and Kansas City native David Cook. Ken called the performance “fun” and loved his versatility, while Jenny proclaimed that she “freaking love him.” Ken thought it was Liam Hemsworth, Robin suggested it was Jason Momoa, and Nicole guessed NBA great Dennis Rodman.
Team Bad’s Cyclops revealed that he loved Thingamabob. The pre-performance clues included “podcasts,” a statue of David, and a fiddler. Cyclops sang Irene Cara’s “(Flashdance) What a Feeling.” I got chills from the performance. Other clues included stuffed animals. Nicole called the cover: “electrifying.” Ken thought it was Guardians of the Galaxy’s Dave Bautista, while Jenny guessed Zac Brown. Robin ended the guessing round with Dax Shepherd.
Team Good’s Firefly Mask made her pitch to appear on The Masked Singer: Season Seven finale. In her pre-performance package, a photo of Kayne West, a fire alarm, and dynamite sticks. She sang Charlie Puth’s “Attention.” I loved her lower vocal register, but I did not like the Orville Peck dancers. For the past couple of weeks, I guessed that Firefly was Monica. However, I will now guess Teyana Taylor based on that vocal performance. Nicole predicted that she would be going all the way to the finale. Ken still believed that Alicia Keys was the Firefly. Meanwhile, Jenny thought it was Ciara, and Robin thought it was Keyshia Cole. She also got a shoutout from Masked Singer alum JoJo Siwa.
All three performers sang James Brown’s “I Feel Good” for their final performance. I got to say Thingamabob won the final showdown in my humble opinion. After the audience and the panel voted, Nick revealed that Cyclops was the first performer to be sent packing. The panel made their final guesses. Robin thought it was Kevin Smith, while Jenny double-downed her guess of Zac Brown. Ken also double-downed his Dave Bautista guess, and Nicole thought it was Michael Keaton. It turned out that Cyclops was Lost star and SAG award-winning actor Jorge Garcia!
Nick revealed that Firefly was the Group A winner, while Thingamabob was sent home! Jenny thought it was Good Morning America co-anchor Michael Strahan, while Ken stood by his guess of Liam Hemsworth. Nicole doubled-down her guess of Dennis Rodman and Robin changed his guess to football great J.J. Watt. Thingamabob was revealed to be NFL superstar Jordan Mailata.
Next week, Group B make their Masked Singer: Season Seven debuts!
