Last week, The Masked Singer returned for its sophomore season. Eight celebrities disguised as animals, insects, a tree, and a Thingumajig to perform. However, the Egg and Ice Cream had to unmask and their identities were Olympic skater Johnny Weir and streaming icon Ninja.
Tonight, four more celebrities performed! Who impressed the Masked Singer panel (Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke, Ken Jeong, and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg)? Which participant had to unmask? Read on to find out!
After Nick Cannon made his dramatic entrance and introduced the panel, it was time to get down to business. The first face-off was the Leopard versus the Black Widow. The spider went first and lived in the public eye for years and hinted that she was an actress. The Black Widow performed a spooky cover of Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” and I thought that I heard Raven-Symone’s voice during the performance. Jenny stated that she was blown away, while Nicole thought that she knew the Black Widow’s voice. The panel thought that Amber Riley, Yvette Nicole Brown, or Sherri Shepherd was the Black Widow.
Next, the Leopard appeared on the Masked Singer stage. During the pre-performance package, the royal Leopard was a major superstar that was wrapped by the tabloid headlines. However, when the Leopard sang Queen’s “Somebody to Love,” it turned out to be a guy. I thought by his vocal performance, the Leopard was Seal! Nicole loved his soulful tone, while Robin thought it was Billy Porter behind the mask. Meanwhile, Ken thought it was Robbie Williams and Jenny thought it was Jamie Foxx.
After the panel and Masked Singer audience voted, the Black Widow was safe while the Leopard was in danger of elimination. The second face-off of the evening belonged to the Flamingo and the Panda. Up first was the Flamingo, she revealed that she was a YouTube influencer and felt like her career trapped her. The Flamingo sang Jonas Brothers’ “Sucker,” and she brought the heat vocally. I thought she sounded like Naya Rivera or Kelly Rowland. The panel thought it was Olivia Jade, Kandi Burress, or Tia Mowry.
Next, the Panda selected its disguise in honor of its father and has an animal instinct in them. The Panda performed Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger,” while it was an okay vocal and I thought it was either Venus Williams or Laila Ali under the mask. Ken praised the Panda for their charisma and thought it was Martha Stewart. Nicole also thought it was Venus Williams, while Jenny thought it was Ronda Rousey.
The Flamingo survived to sing another week on The Masked Singer. It left the Panda to face-off against the Leopard in the Masked Singer smackdown. The Panda sang DJ Khaled’s “All I Do is Win,” while the Leopard sang Aretha Franklin’s “Leopard” and delivered an impeccable vocal performance.
The Masked Singer panel voted for the Leopard to sing another day. Sadly, it was time for the Panda to leave the show. Before the Panda unmasked, the panel made their last guesses: Ronda Rousey, Wanda Sykes, Loni Love, and Venus Williams. At the end of the evening, Laila Ali was the Panda! I knew it!!!!!
