Last night, the America’s Got Talent: Season 11 live shows began at their new home: The Dolby Theatre.
Several acts (Hara, Jon Dorenbos, Jayna Brown, Musicality Vocal Group, Deadly Games, and Laura Bretan) “shifted into turbo” and delivered some of the most exciting performances from this season. Other acts such as the Dorothy Williams, Outlawz, Tape Face, and Sila Sveta had a hard time finding their footing and bombed on the stage.
Tonight, we learned which seven acts will move on to the September semi-finals and who was sent home!
Which acts advanced to the next round? Read on to find out!
Simon stated that he could see four potential acts win the show! After a mini-retrospective of last night’s performances, Nick revealed the candidates for the first Dunkin’ Save of the season: Deadly Games, Hara, and Lori Mae Hernandez! While I was still recovering from the shock of seeing Hara in Dunkin’ Save, it was time for a visit to the Dunkin’ Lounge. After checking in with Dorothy, Tape Face, and Jon, it was time to reveal the first set of results! The first acts to hear the news was Musicality and Dorothy Williams, and America gave the first spot to Musicality Vocal Group! Next, he revealed the fates of the two young singers: Laura and Jayna! Thank goodness that both of them moved on to the next round.
As Nick checked in the Dunkin’ Save candidates, the show checked in with previous winners and Las Vegas headliners Paul Zerdin, Mat Franco and Terry Fator. Also, Piff the Magic Dragon also shared his Vegas success. Up first, Paul Zerdin and his sidekick, Sam, entertained the crowd with a short piece that made me smile and laugh!
While Paul and Sam left the stage, Season Nine Champion Mat Franco brought a taste of his Las Vegas to the Dolby Theatre audience. He showcased his ability to master hand manipulation using cards and graphics. All four judges and the Dolby Theatre audience gave him a standing ovation. As Mat left the stage, it was time to return to the results. Jon Dorenbos and Tape Face were the final two semifinalists that were revealed before we got to the Dunkin’ Save and the Judges’ Save.
As Lori Mae Hernandez was revealed to be the Dunkin’ Save, the fates of both Hara and Danger Games were in the Judges’ hands. Heidi kicked off the vote and chose Deadly Games, while Simon joined her. Mel B and Howie chose Hara. Because of the deadlock, the vote referred back to America and they chose Deadly Games.
Next week, 12 more acts fight it out for a spot in the September semi-finals!
