Last night, 11 acts returned to the Dolby Theatre. Their one goal was to receive America’s votes and be named a Season 13 finalist. In all honesty, the variety acts stepped up to the plate, while the music acts faltered. I believe that Duo Transcend, Junior New System, Shin Lim, Samuel J. Comroe, and Zurcaroh delivered some of the best performances I have ever seen since Got Talent creator Simon Cowell took Howard Stern’s spot at the Judges’ Table.
Tonight, the first Season 13 finalists were revealed! Which fan-favorites were eliminated from the competition? Which acts will have one final chance to perform for the $1,000,000 prize? Who needed the Dunkin’ Save to advance to the Season 13 finale? Which act got the second to last Judges’ (Simon, Heidi Klum, Mel B, and Howie Mandel) Save of the season? Read on to find out!
After a behind the scenes clip show that recapped the evening that Simon dubbed “the battle of the Golden Buzzers,” it was time to get down to business. Host Tyra Banks revealed the acts who were up for the Dunkin’ Save. The acts were Duo Transcend, Samuel J. Comroe, and Voices of Hope Children’s Choir. I was very shocked to learn that both Duo Transcend and Samuel J. Comroe found themselves in jeopardy because they delivered some of their best material last night.
As the three acts retreated to the Dolby Theatre backstage, the show revealed that Heidi Klum joined the acts at the Dunkin’ Lounge. She interacted with Shin Lim, Junior New System, and Duo Transcend. Plus, fans got to see a behind the scenes package of what the acts go through every time that they take the Dolby Theatre stage.
Finally. after multiple filler segments, we got to the results. Shin Lim became the first act to advance to the Season 13 finale. The next act that would join Shin at the finals was Michael Ketterer, who won the battle of the Golden Buzzer singers. Zurcaroh was the final act that advanced to the Season 13 finals.
Samuel J. Comroe earned the second to last Dunkin’ Save of the season, which meant that the Voices of Hope’s Children Choir and Duo Transcend were up for the Judges’ Save. Heidi kicked off the vote and decided to advance Voices of Hope Children’s Choir. Mel B voted for Duo Transcend and Howie seconded the motion. Simon stood by Voices of Hope, which sent the results back to America! The country decided to advance DUO TRANSCEND to the Season 13 finale!
The Season 13 semifinals conclude next week! A plethora of Jake’s Take favorites such as Aaron Crow, Angel City Chorale, Christina Wells, Courtney Hadwin, Da Republik, Glennis Grace, Vicki Barbolak, and We Three will face off for the final five spots in the Season 13 finale.
