New Music Releases is back for another exciting edition!
This week, Jake’s Take looks into new albums from Jessica Sanchez and the Randy Rogers Band, an EP from Fleetwood Mac and hot singles from Becky G, Marc Anthony and Ke$ha.
Me, You & The Music by Jessica Sanchez
Jessica Sanchez’s powerhouse voice made America fall in love with her last season on American Idol. While many of her fans expected her to record an all-ballad album, they will be a little bit disappointed. A majority of her debut album is filled with a mix of bubblegum pop and R&B up-tempo tracks. It is great to see Jessica out of Idol’s constraints and belt out amazing tunes. Me, You & The Music is a strong debut album thanks to incredible producers and songwriters including Ester Dean, Ne-Yo, Stargate and Sia plus Jessica’s superb vocals. Hopefully, this will help Jessica achieve superstardom. A
Songs to Download: “Right to Fall,” “Tonight,” “Crazy Glue,” “Plastic Roses” & “Drive By”
Trouble by Randy Rogers Band
I recently discovered the Randy Rogers Band on iTunes. While listening to their new album, I researched them and discovered that this was their sixth studio album. This is a quality country rock band that produced intriguing tracks (including a duet with country icon Willie Nelson) and the song arrangements are superior to other overrated country rock bands. This album is definitely worth the $9.99 to buy and I hope that the Randy Rogers Band does get the attention it deserves. A-
Songs to Download: “Goodbye Lonely,” “Fuzzy,” “Trouble Knows My Name” & “If I Had Another Heart.”
Extended Play by Fleetwood Mac
Extended Play marks the first EP of new material from the classic rock band in 10 years. While fans of the band will be ecstatic to hear the new songs, it seems that Extended Play is a Lindsey-based album because in most of the tracks, the “Go Insane” singer dominates his long-time band mate and ex Stevie Nicks on the main vocals. Despite this tiny issue, Extended Play is a good EP that should get radio-play on Adult Contemporary radio stations and should hold fans over until Fleetwood Mac releases an album later on this year. “Becky from the Block” by Becky G
Look out Nicki Minaj! There is a new female MC in town! Becky G’s “Becky from the Block” is based on Jennifer Lopez’s semi-autobiographic hit “Jenny from the Block” and Becky produced strong beats for her age. Becky has a bright future in front of her and I have a feeling we are going to hear a lot more from her. A-
“Vivir Mi Vida” by Marc Anthony
The Latin Pop King’s latest single has a superb instrumental arrangement and great vocals from Mr. Anthony. While Spanish speakers might have an easier time translating the song, Marc’s latest song is an upbeat song that would put anybody in a good mood. A
“Crazy Kids Remix” by Ke$ha featuring will.i.am
Fans will be very disappointed with this new remix! From the lyrics to the production, this was an abysmal track! If you want to spend your money on this piece of garbage, be my guest but save your money for quality tracks. F
