We will be saying goodbye to 2012 in just a couple of weeks and what better way to prepare your End of the Year playlist then adding these albums to your MP3 player.
In part one of New Music Releases, I reviewed the latest offerings from Wiz Khalifa, Ke$ha, Florida Georgia Line and Josh Krajcik.
O.N.I.F.C. by Wiz Khalifa
The Minot, North Dakota native delivers an interesting combination of intriguing tracks and average filler despite the fact that Wiz recruited several big name producers and guest performers including Benny Blanco, Stargate, will.i.am, Pharrell, Akon and his girlfriend: Amber Rose. It seemed that this album rushed at times and while Wiz’s fans will rally upon their favorite rapper, this album should be avoided if you do not want to waste time. C
Songs to Download: “Let It Go,” “Work Hard, Play Hard” and “Remember You”
Warrior by Ke$ha
Ke$ha’s sophomore album Warrior is one of the most surprising albums of the year. She has improved tremendously since her 2008 debut in her songwriting, vocals and song production. In addition, Ke$ha holds her own against some of music’s revered acts: Iggy Pop, Patrick Carney and the Strokes when they make their cameos on this album. Overall, Ke$ha did not suffer a sophomore slump and produced an album that proves that she is not a one-hit wonder. A-

Here’s to the Good Times by Florida Georgia Line
One of the hottest new country acts that are going to dominate the charts in the future is Florida Georgia Line. This country duo (Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley) co-wrote seven out of its 11 tracks and demonstrates excellent musicianship throughout their debut album. I strongly believe that Florida Georgia Line will be a force to be reckoned with in 2013. A
Songs to Download: “Cruise,” “Get Your Shine On,” “It’z Just What We Do,” “Tell Me How You Like It” and “Tip It Back.”
Josh Krajcik by Josh Krajcik
The X Factor alum has delivered a solid EP. It is great to see Josh tackle blues and rock songs on his self-titled EP and he is heading in the right direction with his career. If he comes to Kansas City, I would be one of the first people in line to see his show. A-
