New Music Releases is back with some of Jake’s Take’s favorite artists!
Corazon by Santana
Corazon marks Santana’s 22nd studio album! I am so happy that they stuck with their Latin rock roots. Between the impeccable guest artists (Gloria Estefan, Juanes, Miguel, Pitbull and Ziggy Marley) to the outstanding arrangements featuring Carlos Santana’s superb guitar riffs, this album is a must download for any Santana and rock fans. Tracks To Download: “La Flaca”, “Mal Bicho”, “Oye 2014”, “Iron Lion Zion” & “Beijo de Longe”
Beating Time by Black Oxygen
Black Oxygen recently released its sophomore studio album. I think the band has grown leaps and bounds from its 2012 release: The American Dream. While it is a trio, David Lyle continues to be one of the Midwest’s premiere front men as he grabs the listener’s attention in the Creed-like track: “Haunted Place.” In addition, I am glad that there is a balance between heavy metal and instrumental rock. I hope the group continues its exponential growth because the guys are ready to represent the next generation of rock. B
Tracks to Download: “Haunted Place”, “Livin the Life” & “They’re Not My Friends”
“Love Never Felt So Good” by Michael Jackson & Justin Timberlake
My Song of the Week is “Love Never Felt So Good”! This track is from the latest Michael Jackson posthumous album: Xscape. “Love Never Felt So Good” features MJ at his finest along with one of MJ’s devoted acolytes and the President of Pop: Justin Timberlake. Listeners would also agree that it is great to hear the merger of two different superb producing styles: Timbaland’s modern beats and Giorgio Tuinfort’s disco sound in the background. A+
“Good Kisser” by Usher
The Voice coach is back in the recording studio! While I am ecstatic that Usher is back in the game, his first single: “Good Kisser” is polarizing. The first single off of his upcoming eighth studio album has quality production! But, I think listeners would have a hard time trying to connect with the song. I hope that Usher can deliver better material soon! C
“First Love” by Jennifer Lopez
For the first time in her career, the reigning queen of the American Idol XIII judging panel has teamed up with mega producer Max Martin (Britney, Katy Perry, Kesha & P!nk)! Their first collaboration, “First Love”, is an addicting piece of ear candy that will make listeners remember the On the 6, J. Lo and Brave days. I hope there are more songs like this on Ms. Lopez’s upcoming A.K.A. album B+/A-
I do not own any of the clips or album covers that are featured in this edition of “New Music Releases”. They belong to the artists and their respective record companies.
