Jake’s Take’s New Music Reviews: Week of June 3, 2022

Artists to Watch:

Jake’s Take’s Artists to Watch is back! Here are some of the recording artists and bands that are looking to take over the music world.

Paradise – EP by Harrison Barnes

Singer-dancer Harrison Barnes released his latest extended play: Paradise. The dance-pop recording artist’s latest offerings remind me of Blake McGrath, Davis Mallory, and Frankie Zulferino. Harrison’s strong vocals, the EP’s superb production, and catchy lyrics showcase a potential music superstar. I cannot wait to see what Harrison does next.

Tracks to Download: “Paradise,” “TLC,” “Alone on the Dance Floor,” & “Fashion.”

“One by One” by Birds of Bellwoods

Canadian band Birds of Bellwoods dropped their new single: “One by One.” The band includes Steve Joffe, AD Morningstar, Chris Blades, Kintaro, and Dylan Gowan. Their single is a rallying cry and a call to action for listeners. As I listened to “One by One,” the quintet reminded me of one of my favorite pop-rock bands, 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS). Just like 5SOS, I predict big things from Birds of Bellwoods! “One by One” is one fantastic song! A-

“F**k Me (I Didn’t Know How to Say)” by CRAWLERS

British rock band CRAWLERS are heading to the United States after dominating the United Kingdom. The Liverpool-based quartet has amassed a tremendous social media following and has nearly a million monthly listeners on Spotify. “F**k Me (I Didn’t Know How to Say)” is a powerful, personal, and provocative track that deals with the dark side of sex. The track would satisfy pop-punk music fans and cements CRAWLERS as a band to watch. B+

“FOMO (fear of missing out)” by WIESINGER

WIESINGER rounds out this edition of Jake’s Take’s New Music Reviews! On New Year’s Eve 2021, WIESINGER took a leap of faith to pursue a full-time career in the music industry. His single, “FOMO (fear of missing out),” totally speaks to what millennials are thinking: “the fear of missing out.” I loved the lyrics and “FOMO’s” production. I am glad he took a leap of faith because he could be one of the best breakout artists of 2022.
