The Grammys are 12 days away! Every year, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences recognize some of the biggest names in music for their accomplishments in the recording industry.
Every year, Grammy audiences anticipate a performance that will have people talking about it at work the very next day or even the next couple of years.
In order to prep viewers for this year’s Grammy Awards, this author will be counting down to the most incredible Grammy performances in the past 32 years. Each day, you can expect five incredible performances with summaries on either this blog: jacobelyacharjournalist.com or Examiner.com.
Without further ado, here are the first five performances that you need to watch:
50. Across the Universe tribute (2005)

49. Whitney Houston, “It’s Not Right But its Okay/I Learned From the Best” (2000)

48. Hanson, “MMMBop” (1998)
Hanson mania hit the Grammys in 1998 when the trio performed their signature song at Radio City Music Hall when the Grammy Awards were held in New York City. 47. Ricky Martin, “The Cup of Life” (1998)
Latin superstar Ricky Martin exploded onto the Grammys with his jovial performance of “The Cup of Life” that featured incredible Latin dance moves, a percussion band walking in Radio City Music Hall’s aisles and made the audience felt like they were attending a World Cup Victory Party. 46. Britney Spears, “From the Bottom of My Broken Heart/Baby One More Time” (2000)
The future Femme Fatale has only performed once for a Grammy audience. This performance was when Britney first exploded on the music scene. The Princess of Pop performed two songs from her debut album: Baby One More Time. This segment featured incredible choreography and superb live vocals from the future Grammy winner.
