The final female WBFF (World Beauty Fitness and Fashion, Inc.) Pro that took “The Five Question Challenge” was Jessica Wasinger!
Jessica won her Pro Card at the WBFF’s US Central Show, where she placed in the Top Three of the Fitness Models!
For her “Five Question Challenge,” Jessica talked about the challenges that she faced during this year’s show and the biggest misconceptions that outsiders have about the fitness organization.
Jacob Elyachar: What were some of the factors that led you to the fitness world?
Jessica Wasinger: Fitness and competing have always been a huge part of my life. Ever since I was a little girl, I enjoyed playing sports, including (but not limited to) soccer, volleyball, snowboarding, lifting weights and even rugby! I found that a person’s true character comes out through healthy competition and fantastic things can be learned like teamwork, dedication and friendship.
JE: How long does it take you to prepare for a show?
JW: I keep my body pretty lean all year. And, although I do have an occasional indulgence meal, I actually enjoy eating clean. Physically, my body is always “under construction.” It truly is a lifestyle for me and I will always be challenging myself to improve both inside and out. I may tweak a few aspects of my diet when preparing for a show, but normally it only takes a few weeks to be stage ready. However, if we’re talking timelines to prepare costumes and bikinis, planning and execution takes much longer!
JE: What were some of the challenges that you faced while preparing for the 2014 US Central Show? How did you overcome them?
JW: Each show presents some obstacles and requires individualized planning. For the Kansas City Show (excellent venue), my greatest challenge was perfecting my walk. Being a “tom-boy,” walking in heels does not come naturally. The WBFF Prep Camp (run by HitchFit) was excellent! Their positive feedback helped refine my grace and I quickly found myself cooking, grocery shopping and even teaching in my stage heels.
JE: What are some of the biggest misconceptions that outsiders have about the WBFF?
JW: Unfortunately, there are many misconceptions about the WBFF. One of the most prevalent myths, I’ve found, is the belief that “it’s just another bodybuilding league.” I first became interested in the WBFF from the Internet, but became hooked after attending a show myself. The glam and the care put into each show is second to none. And, the best aspect has to be the incredible people involved in the WBFF. The coaches, other competitors and the overall “feel” are all elements that make this organization an inviting and exciting place to be. The WBFF truly feels like a family and I am thankful I found my home.
JE: How did attaining your WBFF Pro status help you in the next chapter in your fitness journey?
JW: Achieving my “Pro” status has been a goal for a long time. I have been training clients for years and obtained many fitness & nutrition certifications. Receiving my Pro Card was nothing short of a dream come true, as it will allow me to share my passion and love for health on a larger scale. I truly love this federation and am so honored to be part of it! I am excited for this next adventure and look forward to what’s ahead!
