With over 1,020,000 views on YouTube and an ever-growing fanbase on social media, Adam continues to inspire his fans to step out of their comfort zones and tackle the challenges the global fitness community provides!
In this edition of The Five Question Challenge, the United Kingdom-based bodybuilder talked about the challenges he faced in the fitness industry and which social media platforms have helped him establish his career in the fitness industry.
Jacob Elyachar: When did you get interested in fitness? How did that passion evolve into bodybuilding?
Adam Foster: It was my love of pro wrestling that initially got me into fitness. I was a little overweight as a teenager, and wanted to get into shape. I started eating a little better and dropping some fat, then began hitting the weights from home and eventually started in the gym. Last year, I set up my website: http://www.shreddybrek.com, along with my YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/shreddybrek. I started sharing workouts videos on the channel, and I eventually branched out into doing supplement reviews. I saw a big demand for it and established: http://cheapproteindiscountcodes.co.uk.
JE: What are some of the major similarities between American and international bodybuilding?
AF: I do not think there are any differences between American and international bodybuilding. I think the differences lie more in the federations. For example, I have competed in NABBA, which is divided by height. I have yet to compete in the UKBFF (the IFBB) however classes are divided by weight.
JE: What are some of the challenges that you faced in the fitness industry? How did you overcome them?
AF: One of the biggest challenges in staying consistent and focused even when in competition prep. The more fat I pile on during the ‘off season,’ the more time I have to spent getting rid of it when I prepare for a show. Bodybuilding is not a three months out of the year thing…it is a lifestyle!
JE: How has social media helped you establish an online presence? What are some of your goals in the next chapter of your career in the fitness industry?
AF: YouTube and Twitter in particular have been hugely beneficial to me. Without these platforms, I would not have a ‘career’ in fitness. I would like to think that my Shreddy Brek YouTube channel and blog would keep growing, and hopefully lead to more exposure and opportunities within fitness modeling and bodybuilding.
JE: If you had the chance to meet with aspiring bodybuilders and fitness trainers who want to have a career in the fitness industry, what advice would you share?
AF: I would advise them to just stay consistent, hungry and to be realistic with their goals!
